25.01.2022 Our geriatric girl, Aunty Molly, and her great-great nephew, Bruce (Wayne). Quite a unique relationship. Shes the boss (hence him standing in the background), but at 13.5 years and completely deaf, she relies on his very acute hearing to monitor whats going on. Like a previous poster, we are very grateful to the Borg family for entrusting us with these fabulous family members. Thank you Kellie Abbiss for sharing Aunty Molly's story.

23.01.2022 Great memories, thanks Ffiona, superb.

23.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch FBCNSW is aware that ANKC [Australian National Kennel Council] has approached the Kennel Club about signing up for the Respiratory Function Scheme. We are posting the Kennel Club podcast which outlines the health and welfare issues concerning brachycephalic breeds - BOAS - brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome. This scheme will help owners and breeders across the country and is important for the future of our breed. Like so many who have generously donated funds towards the purchase of the BOAS chamber, FBCNSW has been frustrated at the difficulties in getting testing underway. Please set aside 30 minutes to view the podcast and learn what is being proposed.

21.01.2022 Whilst this is a UK post, it is relevant to our own French Bulldogs. The merle FBs being bred here and overseas is another profit driven fad by unregulated breeders cashing in on the popularity of the French Bulldog. Buyer beware - don't add to the problem and do not buy puppies with this colour pattern.

20.01.2022 FJ turning 12 years next February. As you can tell by his face not into exercise much. He is loved to bits by Shane Schofield. Thank you for sharing

19.01.2022 VALE Kay Josephs KAAYIN French Bulldogs New Zealand Kay and her husband Ian have been longstanding fanciers who contributed greatly to the breed and were former members of FBCNSW. Their foundation stock was imported from South Australian breeder Carlene Naughton (Hanahaus). The first (1998) was a brindle bitch Hanahaus Naughty Nadine (Guy Laroche de la Parure (Imp Ndl) x Elspeth (Imp Ndl). Hanahaus Paco Robain (Shi-Fra-Sa's The Viking Hanahaus (Imp Nwy) x Hanahaus Here's Hilair) was a striking pied male Kay imported in 1999. A strong foundation from which to develop their own Kaayin style. RIP Kay, hopefully you'll meet up with Carlene in the spirit world. Condolences to Ian and family.

16.01.2022 To: FCI President Dr. Tamas Jackkel To : CPC President Mrs. Carla Molinari 6/6/2020 Dear Mrs Molinari and Dr. Jakkel,... On behalf of Bulldog Clube de Portugal, I would like to send our statement about the situation of the 23 breeds, specially the one we represent the English Bulldog, forbidden to exist by the Netherland Government. According to one of the rules of the FCI and the international law, a breed and his standard, belong to their country of origin. None of these breeds are from the Netherland, so the only thing they can do, is to forbid their reproduction in their country, or condemn them to death. This is nothing more than a racism position, legalized by law in the 21 centuries in civilized country of Europe. The welfare and the rights of animals are in dangerous in this Country , as it happened in the last World Dog Show in Amsterdam, in the Parking of the show at the end of the day, While exhibitors were collecting their dogs to the cars, the Police where with a dog looking for dogs in the cars, breaking the windows and taking the dogs in creates to the open air park and leaving them under the strong rain frozen an in danger of catching pneumonia. This procedure was based on a risk of life of the dogs in the cars, wich could have justification if they were without any vigilance the all day in a car closed. But it was not the case, it was exactly while their owner or handlers where taking them to the car and went back to the show ground to collect the other dogs they had and leave the parking. In fact, there was not 1 single dog with any problem in a car, but several cars broken and dogs leaved in the rain, and exhibitor or handlers obliged to pay huge amount of money of 1000 or more to recover their dogs. This is a very modern typical problem of acting fast, with attitude and power thru a fast way of solving a situation, but sometimes there is no situation, there is no reason for all this apparat and excitement. This together with ignorance or lack of interest to study the problem before acting, normally takes to a very unwise decision with disastrous consequences. The minorities activists in this area, are well organized and very, noisy, try to dominate the public opinion, to achieve their objective and use collateral persons with a pure mind to reach their objectives. But their objectives are at the moment the Brachiocephalic dogs, after pure breed dog, and after all dogs, what will be next? They talk already about cows, the quantity of water and land we spend to breed one caw? will the Netherland Government act, as fast and promptly with the cows? Or will they stop to think? when will they stop? What are they really looking for? Until now we dont see any improvement in the quality of life of dogs promoted by this people, exactly because most of them dont have or never had any animal, and the real thing is another issue? But in the contrary they promote and even convince the people and the young vets to massive campaigns of sterilizations. Brachiocephalic are some of the oldest breeds in the world specially Pugs and Bulldogs. As in all kind of breeds and even more in none pure breeds there are healthy, medium and non-healthy examples, of course the non-pure breeds are mostly abandoned dogs, that reproduce without any selection or control and in the worse health conditions. Where a very small minority will survive and only the really super strong ones, what is called a natural selection. Already we have had more studies and healthy controls on the pure breed dogs than ever and a massive evolution in quantity and quality during the last years, to achieve that in our days dogs are healthier and better cared and happier. We think the solution is not to exterminate, but to solve problems, so the alliance from breeders, the Kennel Clubs and the scientific world, will evaluate the real problems, and will lead to a wised and effective solutions. The fast and easy one is obviously the racist one or extermination? In the 21 Century we expect to have intelligent solutions, not irresponsible attitudes that leads to an end without return. Bulldog Clube de Portugal Pedro Sanches Delerue President This letter was send to our KC, CPC who send it to FCI and FCI send to RvB who had the attention to replay as his publish and witch we answer

11.01.2022 All of us who breed, show, judge or simply love the world of purebred dogs recognize that change comes to us all. We are challenged by animal rights activists w...ho disapprove of what we do. We are challenged by economic realities that make it difficult to find the time and money to pursue our passion. We are challenged by the difficulties we encounter in our efforts to breed beautiful, healthy dogs of excellent temperament. Yet, we soldier on, gathering strength along the way. As a judge, one of my greatest pleasures is to welcome newcomers when they enter the ring. We all start somewhere. How easy it is to be kind. We cant all win, but we can have a good experience which makes us enter again and again until we do. ELAINE LESSIG

05.01.2022 Congratulations to Club President Lyn Borg on the presentation of Life Membership. Whilst Lyn needs no introduction to the working committee, it should be noted for the membership how much of a commitment, dedication and love for the breed Lyn has shown for more than two decades. Lyn first joined the club on 25th October 1998 and has been an active member ever since. Along with the late Terry Cartwright, Lyn was instrumental in putting the club in proper order following a ro...cky period in the club's history. We should never forget that clubs are only as good and productive as the people behind them. Lyn, your patience and determination under duress at that time was extraordinary. As a breeder Lyn and the "Frogwyck" Frenchies have been most successful over the years. Lyn prides herself as a mentor to new breeders both here and in New Zealand, generously starting them off with quality frenchies she has bred. Of immense pleasure and the most rewarding side of breeding for Lyn is placing puppies in the right home. The breed is fortunate to have had such a reputable Frenchie fancier over many years. Thank you Lyn.

05.01.2022 Latest research from Cambridge Uni - helpful information for all

04.01.2022 Buyer Beware - The Club has been made aware that the prefixes of some of our breeder members are being fraudulently used on Facebook pages selling French Bulldog puppies. The owners of these kennels are deeply upset and concerned their prefixes are being used in this way. Should you come across such a page please note Club breeder members are NOT associated with these people.

04.01.2022 It’s only a... During the various debates you see about events starting back up again, there were three words that were constantly used, IT’S ONLY A... Be it a ...sporting event, concert, pub opening, theatre, cinema and more closer to home Dog Show. To quote the great Bill Shankly Football isn’t only a game, it’s much more important than that!. The same can be said for any past-time, hobby or pursuit for those taking part and for those spectating. Take our hobby, everybody is involved at differing levels. From those involved in organising the event right down to the exhibitor. A friend highlighted something to me that I had been lucky enough to head off to shows abroad, I’d took that for granted I suppose but it has resonated and made me think about it from a different perspective. Any pursuit humans do for fun all centres around the release of endorphins, they are what makes us feel psychologically better. So the question is, is it only a dog show? The organisers spend months preparing the event, wanting to put on an event that everybody can enjoy. They worry and stress over every little detail from the weather to the overall entry, but when it all comes together they get that release, stresses of day to day life are forgotten in the build up as they are focussed on putting on the best event they can. Judges spend the time in a build up to a show wondering what their entry will be like, wondering who will turn up on the day even maybe having a shopping trip and planning a special outfit. Again, all an escape from the real world. Now to the exhibitors, all of us are different but there is the preparation of the dogs for the show, thoughts switch to who might be in your class, then if the judge will like your dog, if your dog will behave. The thought of catching up with friends, different friends who actually understand what you are talking about. The long drive to the show, maybe you’re lucky enough to be staying away and socialising with people, seeing the dogs that you raised and brought into the world. Add to all of that the feelings of joy if you or a friend are lucky enough to win. All of this is a welcome distraction and escape for people, it is good for the mind and good for the soul. So please don’t tell me It’s only a dog show!; it’s much more important than that.

02.01.2022 Buyer Beware, do NOT fall into the trap. Average price for a Frenchie in NSW is $4000 - $4500 from health tested parents. Please perform due diligence on all breeders. FBCNSW is a good place to start. You Joe Public have a responsibility to not support greedy producers of puppies of any breed.

02.01.2022 VALE Glenda Clifford Our lovely and kind club member has left this world. Condolences to all her friends in the dog world. Glenda you will be sorely missed. RIP dear lady.
