21.01.2022 Bon matin ! Hum... Actually, we don't really say 'good morning' where I am from. We say Bonjour (good day), Bonne nuit (good night) and even bonsoir (good evening)... But it's like French people are not morning people. We don't celebrate the mornings. But in some parts of the world, like in French speaking Canada, they do. Probably the influence of their English speaking neighbours. So.... Just stick to Bonjour when in Paris. Parisians are rude enough, there is no need to upset them more!
18.01.2022 Happy Birthday... to me.^^ J'ai 34 ans aujourd'hui (yes, we HAVE years in French, it's like we own them!). Et toi ? (What about you?)
14.01.2022 I can't wait to meet you all for the first French Story Time in the Hills! Here is one of the books I will be reading, as we will learn how to say hello. It's a fun pop up book with a little action required. We will repeat the words together, and see what is appropriate to say to French people when you greet them!
14.01.2022 As we will focus on saying HELLO for our first French Story Time, I will be reading this book. Easy sentences, images that show the everyday of children, it will be a fun way to start practicing BONJOUR.
08.01.2022 Awwwww, do you recognise this one? It's Richard Scarry, an all time favorite in our house, and he actually is translated into French, of course! We have both his stories in French and English, and I will incorporate them in our story time sessions for older children.
06.01.2022 Bonjour à tous ! How do you say hello in French? Hum... So many choices! Do you know these ones?
06.01.2022 Who's guilty of this one?
04.01.2022 Ok, I have to say, I went into YouTube to find a 'Joyeux Anniversaire' song for you to listen to and see that it is the same as in English. So super easy to sing along. OMG, I couldn't stop laughing, there are so many weird songs out there, so kitch, it's ridiculous. So I am definitely NOT sharing. I may sing for you in the stories today though. If I reach enough likes with this post (let's say 10), I will. Who doesn't like a little challenge on a Monday?
02.01.2022 Bonjour ! Welcome to this page! My name is Julie and I am a qualified French teacher in France, living in Australia since 4 years. I have been asked to teach French since quite a while, so here it is! Watch this space if you are... - An adult with NO knowledge in French... - An adult who did study a little French and wants to dive in again - A mum who is interested in exposing your little ones to another language an culture - A student who would like to boost their marks! I am looking forward to show you that French isn't that difficult, really.
02.01.2022 One of my favourite authors. Father of the French Enlightenment, he fought his whole life for a brighter future. His main opponent: religious fanatics. He is often seen as atheist but he wasn't. His criticism of religion is as deep as his knowledge of the scriptures. He is such a fascinating writer, I really recommend reading at least one of his books. You can access them easily in French or in English, whichever you find easier to read. Oh, and did I mention he is really funny?
01.01.2022 Petit Ours Brun ! This little brown bear is a MASSIVE STAR in France. Everyone knows him and has read his adventures. In this particular book, he takes a bath, more or less willingly. He is sweet and cheeky, and most importantly he does everything a 2-3 year old does. ... So he will be one of our good friends during French story time, on Fridays at 10am.
