20.01.2022 First Paediatric arrest Well Vie and I were having a great night shift, just cruising between jobs around the Parramatta area. Just before midnight we get a call for the job you never want to get a baby not breathing!

19.01.2022 I just found some of the pictures from the 2017 Power Industry First Aid and Fire Competition. This year it was held on the Central Coast of NSW at the Origin Eraring training centre. Unfortunately I was unable to attend, but my fantastic team carried the day through with such efficiency that it went smoothly, and all had a good time. Some of the scenarios were challenging, with multiple casualties, and very annoying bystanders (well done Molly, as to be expected), providing ...them with realistic challenges. some of the scenarios included burst steam pipes with severe burns, motor vehicle accidents, confined space rescue incident and multiple envenomations. The teams performed brilliantly, participating with enthusiasm. Days like this can't be a success with out the hard work of the organisers, Origin Eraring, my team of adjudicators and workers, and of course our brilliant casualties who make the challenge just that bit more. 19.01.2022 Taste of a day in the life of a Paramedic It is a true recount, and will often be created with a very black sense of humour behind it. It is often considered within the emergency services and health culture, that the very dark sense of humour that most of us develop.

16.01.2022 I've just purchased 2 x 25 metre Roper Kits, from Roper System. They are an Australian designed system that negates the need for most other vertical rescue components. An all in one, complete system that is engineered to work together, unlike mixing and matching of different components. Had some fun trying it out in Canberra recently, and had a great time, even for a novice. Check them out at www.ropersystem.com. I will be incorporating them into my training whenever possible now.

05.01.2022 Placed an order with Budget workwear at Castle Hill for some new corporate wear. They were really easy to deal with, and very friendly. Will have our new workwear soon to better help identify our staff when on the job.

02.01.2022 Just had a look at the "Rescue Bandage". A pneumatic tourniquet is not a new idea, but these Aussies' have designed and manufactured a good quality and reliable device which is easy to apply. I see a good future ahead for this product. I trialled it in a couple of scenarios, and it worked quite well. Not as compact as the traditional combat tourniquet, but much easier to control the pressure. Great product.

02.01.2022 The station we were operating out of, was getting quite old by the stage I arrived there, and it was in need of some repair and refurbishment. As there was some extensive modification required, we were moved out into temporary quarters up at the local hospital in the nurses’ accommodation block at Auburn.
