25.01.2022 Quality table fish for our guests today. For info and booking please phone, Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

25.01.2022 ALL MOST DONE Regular maintenance is a must for safe boating. Anti foul and prop speed below the water line. Fresh coat of paint for the forward deck. Modifications to the refrigeration unit and ice box. (Good job Ross)... Mounted new float free EPIRB compulsory from 1st January. Have some real concerns with the durability of these units being exposed to the elements. We now have 4 EPIRBs on board, new float free one, 2 in the life rafts and one in the wheel house which we will continue to maintain. A big expense that will eventually have to be passed on to our clients. Back in the water tomorrow just in time for a wet and windy weekend. www.frenzycharters.com.au See more

21.01.2022 NO NEW REPORTS Cancelled recent trips due to bar crossing. As part of our commercial operation, we do a daily risk assessment. With 2/3 meters of Easterly swell at the Brisbane Wave Buoy and small morning low tides at South Passage Bar, err on the side of caution was my choice.

20.01.2022 Cracker day, Good show of Snapper, drove away only to catch more. Open for business over Christmas. For booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

16.01.2022 WHERE BACK After much confusion as to whether charter fishing can or cannot operate. WHERE BACK CHARTERS AVAILABLE NOW As part of our risk management, numbers will be restricted until further notice (great value NO over crowding). We are all in the same boat, so don’t pretend everything is normal. Should you have flu like symptoms please stay home, we will gladly reschedule you for another day, so you won’t blow your dollars.... Social isolation will apply on board, along with stringent hygiene controls. For booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 See more

15.01.2022 FLASH BACK December 2019 - still catching reef fish, with a good show of Dolphin Fish. The new FADs have stood up well to the recent blow. Exceptions FAD 3 off the Goldy on he beach and FAD 19 up north drifting a couple of k south. South Passage Bar, I suspect will still be a little cranky, but its the fresh Northerlies keeping us home at present. (weekend looking more favorable)... LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEA, gift vouches are available, emailed out same day. $245.00 for our full day reef fishing. Please phone to purchase 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au See more

15.01.2022 Tough offshore today, wind up early and the fishing slow. Fish of the day was Alyssa's Pearl Perch. For info and booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

13.01.2022 CLOSURE ENDS ON TAKING OF SNAPPER & PEARL PERCH Unsure if the recent closure was of any real benefit. No evidence of roe or spawning on fish released. The closure did put a lot of pressure on the slower growing reef species. Went for a later start yesterday, taking advantage of the lighter afternoon conditions. For info and booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576... www.frenzycharters.com.au See more

13.01.2022 EXPECTED BUT DISAPPOINTING With small business bleeding out across the state, was hopeful of some small relief from our state government. Not even a band aid, just bureaucratic crap. Thank you for your email of 24 March 2020 to the Honorable Mark Furner MP, Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries regarding mitigation of the impacts of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the Queensland charter fishing industry. The Minister has asked that I respond on his ...behalf. I understand the difficulties currently facing the charter fishing industry due to the effects of COVID-19 and would like to thank you for putting forward your suggestions regarding relaxing licencing, vessel registration fees and permitting of whale watching activities. The Palaszczuk Government has and will continue to consider options to help reduce the impact on businesses across Queensland. At this time, affected charter fishers should consider the financial assistance options being provided across all levels of government. Information has been collated for Queensland businesses and is accessible online. Fisheries Queensland have advised that they are not considering changes to fishing rules, including seasonal closures, in response to COVID-19. All fishing rules are important to ensure the sustainability of our fisheries resources and must continue to be complied with. For snapper, which is listed under the Status of Australian Fish Stock framework as ‘depleted’, this is particularly important as a key measure to rebuild stocks and to protect the species during periods of peak reproductive activity. The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries does not administer vessel registration or permitting of whale watching activities and I encourage you to raise these ideas directly with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and marine park managers. At this stage, the Government and the community are still responding to COVID-19. Once the risks of spreading this virus are under control, the Government will consider community and economic recovery options, similar to how we respond to cyclones. Promoting our charter fishing opportunities is something we will consider as part of the broader tourism recovery planning. 1 William Street Brisbane 4000 GPO Box 46 Brisbane Queensland 4001 Australia Telephone +61 7 3719 7420 Email [email protected] Yours sincerely DAN McINTYRE Office of the Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries See more

13.01.2022 Old post from December 2016, caught another of these strange creatures a few weeks back (Basket Star). Like something out of a horror movie when moving around the deck (yes actually crawls)

10.01.2022 Fishing is great fun, just some days more fun than others. Thursday red hot bite, last couple of days luke warm bite. 3 days leading up to and including the full moon, not my favorite time for a fish, but if the weathers good, always worth a shot. For info and booking please phone 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

10.01.2022 Here's some aerial pics of South Passage and Jumpinpin bars taken by the pilot of the Seair Pacific plane that flies between the Gold Coast and Lady Elliot Isla...nd Eco Resort. 10.01.2022 Nice run of pan sized Snapper this morning, Pearl Perch and Venus Tusk Fish. For charter info and booking please phone 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

10.01.2022 TRAG AND MORE TRAG Tough day at the office, nice patch of Trag, unfortunately not much else for our guests. Teraglin are only caught around offshore reefs, not from beaches or in estuaries. During the day Teraglin reside near the ocean floor, but rise towards the surface to feed during the night. Teraglin is a notable eating fish. Common name: Trag. Confusing species - Can be separated from the Mulloway by tail shape and mouth colour. For booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

10.01.2022 SNAPPER BACK ON THE MENU Limited places available for Sunday 16th and Monday 17th August. For booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

09.01.2022 Couple of days either side of a full moon, typically not my preferred time for a fish, but no complaints with today's catch. For booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au

08.01.2022 Excellent weather outlook, without the spin.

08.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Government has bluntly rejected KAP Leader Robbie Katter MP's request for a mandatory seafood labelling scheme for cafes, pubs and restaurants. M...r Katter used an Estimates session to ask the Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Development to commit to forcing dining venues to display place of origin of their produce to improve consumer awareness and help compete against imports. On World Barramundi Day in October, the KAP announced it would pursue laws in the next Queensland Parliament to bring dining venues in line with supermarkets and make it mandatory to declare whether their seafood, including barramundi, prawns and calamari, was imported. As well as the mandatory labelling code, the KAP planned to propose the introduction of an Aussie Caught logo for hospitality operators who could prove their seafood was locally-sourced. The logo was hoped to become an internationally recognised and sought-after symbol by consumers and return significant benefits to Queensland’s commercial fishing industry. In reply to Mr Katter’s question at Estimates, the Palaszczuk Government responded that it was not considering a mandatory seafood labelling scheme, which it claimed could increase regulatory burden and compliance costs on businesses. These excuses, which are not insurmountable hurdles we couldn’t find solutions to, are just a way to silence the big conversation we need to have about seafood imports in this country, like the fact that a staggering 60 per cent of Australia’s barramundi is imported from places like south-east Asia, Mr Katter said. The Government claims it recognises the need to support locally-caught seafood through the #eatqld promotion, but that is just a drop in the ocean of the change that’s needed. While imported fish was often inferior quality, Mr Katter said Queensland boasted some of the best-eating seafood in the world. He said the COVID-19 pandemic provided a strong backdrop to continue the fight for a mandatory labelling scheme for seafood in fish and chip shops, cafes and restaurants. This pandemic has taught us that people want to support their local industries more than ever, and this is a simple way to bring to the fore exactly where their food is coming from and letting people decide, Mr Katter said. #KAP #KAPteam #Australia

02.01.2022 SNAPPER/PEARL PERCH CLOSURE 15th July to 15th August. Frenzy Charters will be supporting our clients to hold on to their dollars until after the ban 15th August. BUT FOR THOSE KEEN TO GET OUT AND HAVE GO Amberjack / King Fish will be our target species for private bookings, with limited availability for individuals. Venus Tusk Fish, Wrasse, Cod, Perch, Emperor and the like, are typically a by catch on our charters or a get out of jail fishery for days when the bin is empty ...and the sun is setting. From my experience to deliberately target these species during the closure, IS NOT SUSTAINABLE, but I don’t make the rules. DID YOU KNOW ? As is the case with most groper species Venus tusk fish begin their lives as females and mature at around 27cm in length. They then grow to around 48 55cm in length or 10 12 years of age where they change sex and become male. Good luck and tight lines Pictured 6.2 kg Venus Tusk

02.01.2022 Fantastic start for today, flat glassy seas and quality fish on the bite. The northerly kicked in early and with that, holding bottom was difficult. Expect northerlies again for tomorrow, not super strong but with the current starting to race, fishing options will be limited. Hard close call, but cancelled tomorrow. Group bookings may decide to make the most of an ordinary forecast, we give them that option as long as conditions are safe. Shared charters, would I go for a fis...h myself, if no, day cancelled. Sunday is also out with strong winds. www.frenzycharters.com.au See more

01.01.2022 FANTASTIC DAY Weather and sea conditions spot on, covered a lot of ground down south for a feed of mixed reef fish. For booking please phone Gary & Noelle 0427 424 576 www.frenzycharters.com.au
