23.01.2022 We were getting excited about camping in the bush but as we were entering the Caravan Park we had to stop for a big brown snake which was blocking the entrance to the park. Needless to say we aren't staying at that park. lol What is your stance on snakes? Love them or hate them? :)...
23.01.2022 We drove on the Victoria Highway from Katherine to the Western Australian border. The 535 km journey took us around six hours and we passed through some spectacular scenery including the peaceful Victoria River. The road was good but remote and we only passed a handful of cars along the way. ... As with most of our travel through the centre of Northern Territory there was limited internet or phone coverage. 21.01.2022 We say goodbye to Monto in Queensland. I love the old buildings and the colourful cows that can be seen around town. If you love a good steak sandwich head on over to Monto's Grand Hotel where you will get the biggest and most delicious steak sandwich I have ever seen. 21.01.2022 Visiting the town of Mulgildie between Eidsvold and Monto in Queensland Australia. Here we got to see the The Mulgildie Bunyip which is a mythical creature from Aboriginal culture. This Bunyip looks quite friendly so I'm sure it will do us no harm. :) We also dropped into Mulgildie Country Gems a fabulous little shop full of antiques and vintage bric a brac. ... 20.01.2022 Katherine Gorge in the Nitmiluk National Park is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the Northern Territory Australia. The scenery is spectacular and thanks to our wonderful guide Jamie we got to learn more about the history of the gorge, the dreamtime stories of the Jawoyn people and wildlife that call the gorge home. 19.01.2022 Today we visited the R.M.Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre in Eidsvold Queensland Australia. R.M.Williams is famous for its leather goods and bush clothing and this small museum pays tribute to his life. Here we learnt about his early days as a stone Mason, camel train rider and respected bush man.... While there you will also get a glimpse of life in the Eidsvold region and cattle industry. 12.01.2022 There are many popular walking trails to explore in Cania Gorge including the Dragon Cave, Dripping Rock and Overhang. We took the Dragon Cave trail which was a pretty walk across a creek and up through shady bushland. On the outside of the cave you can see the inprint of the dragons talons and the cave is a cosy place for a dragon to rest. ;)... 10.01.2022 Well what a night last night was! We have spent many rainy days in our tent but what we experienced last night was a tad scary. :) The night whipped us around with fierce wind and thunder storms.... The tent was swaying too and throw and the lighting strikes felt like they were booming right outside our tent. I laid awake for hours but I was comfy and cosy in my sleeping bag. Surprisingly the tent stayed up and my anxiety about the wind came to nothing. Frightening as it may have been our tent kept us warm and dry and kept upright during winds that had other tents faulter. We love our tent and so glad we made the right choice when we purchased it. Have you ever had bad weather when camping?

08.01.2022 A highlight today was our boat trip through Katherine Gorge. This stunning area is a must see attraction when visiting Katherine in the Northern Territory. Its located about 30 minutes from Katherine and well worth visiting. You can hike along the many tracks for views or take a boat trip as we did. At the lookout you can see views of the dam, bush scenery and there is a monument holding headstones from the old Cania Cemetery which was flooded in the construction of Cania Dam. 06.01.2022 The Three Moon Silos just outside of Monto in Queensland are named after a local legend. The story goes that a swagman was boiling his billy by a creek, he looked down into the billy and creek each held a reflection of the moon, then he looked up into the sky he saw the third moon. A lovely story and beautiful artwork. :)...
