Falling pregnant was both exciting and a little daunting but staying active was a priority. Maddie guided me through each trimester week by week with knowledge, passion, expertise and personal experience. I trained with her right up until 41 weeks and felt great. 05.01.2022 My post natal return to exercise was so different to what I imagined.... I thought in the first 6 weeks I would be power walking, stretching and doing some Pilates... I thought after my 6 week check I’d be ready to hit the gym.... I thought I had enough education & motivation to train myself.. I thought by 6 months I’d be able to run and I thought I’d be close to having my pre-baby body back... . Guess what... I could walk only very slowly until 10 weeks PP- if I walked too... fast I had symptoms of a prolapse. I hired my own post natal personal trainer (even though I am one) to help with my motivation & core/pelvic floor recovery.. I didn’t hit the gym until 11 weeks PP and it was VERY slow. And I still don’t run!! I’m happy with my new body & enjoying the journey to feeling fit & strong again. . What I learnt.. be patient & trust that my body knew when to start exercising again let go of my expectations to get my pre-baby body back to enjoy the process of getting strong & fit that my journey & recovery is different to everyone else’s to love the skin I’m in. I don’t strive to get my old body back, but I do strive to enhance my new body!
