24.01.2022 Calorie counting - where do I start When done incorrectly, which is unfortunately most of the time, it causes so many issues due to the nature of receiving ‘less’. Starvation, nutrient depletion, hormonal disruption, adrenal pressure and most importantly.. fibre deficiency. Fibre is a carbohydrate, so when people count calories they inevitably decrease their fibre intake too.... Our microbiome only eat one thing! F I B R E Count nutrients, not calories. 18.01.2022 There’s no raspberry emoji! . This is the same as the blueberry slice from the other day but I used raspberries! . ~ You’ll need ~... 2 cups of raspberries (+ 1 tbs vanilla protein powder) 1/4 maple syrup 1 tbs arrowroot powder 3 cups rolled oats 1 banana (mashed & best if super ripe!) 3 tbs water ~ How to ~ Pre-heat oven and line a baking tray Mix the raspberries (wait until they’re not frozen - I didn’t do this ) & add maple syrup and arrowroot powder Add half of the oats to a food processor to create flour then combine remaining oats, banana and water Press half the oat mixture firmly in the baking tray to create an even base. Then on top of that goes the blubs mixture, then crumble the remaining oat mixture on top of that! Bake for 20-25 mins at 170 degrees . 16.01.2022 "Anyone out there who can tell me what our end game is with the covid 19? What is the magic formula that is going to allow us to sound the all clear? Is it zero cases?... The only way that will happen is if we just stop testing and stop reporting. Is it a vaccine? It took 25 years for a chicken pox vaccine to be developed. The smallpox inoculation was discovered in 1796 the last known natural case was in 1977. We have a flu vaccine that is only 40 to 60% effective and less than half of the US population choose to get one, and roughly 20,000 Americans will die of the flu or flu complications. Oh, you'll mandate it, like other vaccines are mandated in order to attend school, travel to some foreign countries, etc. We already have a growing number of anti vaxxers refusing proven, tested, well known vaccines that have been administered for decades but aren’t necessarily safe! Do you really think people will flock to get a fast tracked, quickly tested vaccine, whose long term side effects and overall efficacy are anyone's best guess? How long are we going to cancel and postpone and reconsider? You aren't doing in person school until second quarter? What if December's numbers are the same as August's? You moved football to spring? What if next March is worse than this one was? When do we decide quality of life outweighs the risks? I understand Covid can be deadly or very dangerous for SOME people, but so are strawberries and so is shellfish. We take risks multiple times a day without a second thought. We know driving a car can be dangerous, we don't leave it in the garage. Many speed and don't wear seat belts. We know the dangers of smoking, drinking and eating fried foods, we do it anyway. Is hugging Grandma really more dangerous than rush hour on the freeway? Is going out with friends after work more risky than 4 day old gas station sushi? Or operating a chainsaw? When and how did we so quickly lose our free will and give up our liberty? Is there a waiver somewhere I can sign that says, "I understand the risks, but I choose a life with Hugs and Smiles, and the State Fair and go to Church and go hug my Mom in her retirement home? I understand that there is a minuscule possibility I could die, but I will most likely end up feeling like crap for a few days. I understand I could possibly pass it to someone else, if I'm not careful, but I can pass any virus onto someone else. I'm struggling to see where or how this ends. We either get busy living or we get busy dying. When God decides it's your time, you don't get any mulligans, so I guess I would rather spend my time enjoying it and living in the moment and not worrying about what ifs and maybes, and I bet I'm not the only one. 16.01.2022 I see it time & time again. No one eats enough nuts! . Don’t like them? .... Start by ‘hiding them’ - but you know my stance on hiding things.. eventually you need to stop hiding them eg. cut them up less and less and add them to everything gradually and then bam! Suddenly (usually after 12 exposures) your tastes buds and brain are on the same page and you like them! . ‘Bark’ is a great way to do this. DF choc - mine is the 55% dark choc bits from @honesttogoodnessau Hazelnuts, walnuts, Brazil nuts cut up Cranberries for sweetness Coconut on top . Fruit and nut choc! Jam packet with healthy fats, protein & essential minerals. . Melt chocolate bits and coconut oil (1tbs will do) if you have it in a pan on the strove (or microwave if you’ve got one) the a day the nuts, cranberries (and seeds are great too!) then in the fridge to harden See more

14.01.2022 - - Me: I want to do a cute before and after photo! . Freddie: .... . Ah well. . For those people who say that ‘I’ve bounced back really well’. I appreciate it, I do.. But that sentence is just not one that should exists! I eat well and exercise. There is no secret weight loss pill. If you put on weight during your pregnancy it should be a baby, your uterus and placenta. Pregnant or not pregnant, if you gain adipose tissue the process to alter body composition is the same. But also, a baby is harddd so be kind to yourself and your body I’ve teamed up with @jessbyrnehf if you need some extra support & guidance, or of course I’m available for consults. Altering body composition / loosing weight / decreasing fat mass = please remember we’re not robots. Unless you like lemon, then you get both options! . - A - aka lemon Bliss ball/slice Recipe... 100g / half cup of pitted dates - submerge in boiling water to soften 100g macadamia’s (don’t have them? Use cashews) 100g rolled oats 2 tbs seeds: I used sesame and chia Juice of 2 small lemons (it’s what I had) & grate some rind in too, I just did one. 80ml of water Vanilla Protein powder (don’t have it? Don’t worry. Add some extra oats and 1/2 tsp of vanilla essence) re: PP I used @nutraorganics . > add it all together and pulse / blend. Depends on the consistency you’re after: chunky or smooth. I was going to make balls but.. Sometimes people get so caught up in labels they forget that sometimes simple is really just as effective . Mushy’s on Toast . / / HOW TO / / Either In a big pot ~ meal prep! Do a big batch and breaky is totally sorted before you race out the door to work each day! Just pop a piece of toast down and away you go! Or In a small fry pan ~ throw in some chopped mushrooms, onion and greens. Then a few splashes of balsamic vinegar, a little water and olive oil, a handful of nutritional yeast and let simmer / fry off until it’s cooked! My mum made me go out for lunch - last day before lockdown 2.0 (@wahwahgee amazing as always) Bought myself some organic fruit & veg at my fav @organicmojo Grumpy bum is alseep in the car again on the way home (After I had to change him in the boot of the car after a ginormous poonami - thankfully my gorge @evianappies , as always, contained it all. 02.01.2022 The most commonly asked Q at the moment! . How can I increase my immunity . By creating a diverse microbiome ... . A diverse microbiome means that you not only have good soldiers in your immune army but a range of different guys in your army doing different, specific jobs. You don’t have a certain type of microbiome: you won’t have a particular type of solider that can’t preform a particular job! . So eating a particular food = feeding and creating a particular type of microbiome = creating a new soldier = a particular job will get done! . I often see people eating the same foods, and sure those foods might be ok, but they’re the same! Which can mean you’re restricting your gut health and therefore overall health and well-being. . Sometimes I need to completely overhaul people’s diets, sometimes I just need to tweak a few things here and there. . Good gut health however isn’t as simple as eating lots of different types of fruit, veg, nuts and seeds. Generally it also means removing aggravating and pro-inflammatory factors. . Everyone’s different. Everyone’s immune systems are different, but trying to create a diverse microbiome is an awesome start See more
