25.01.2022 Laser Scanning Dataset I have always had a passion for laser scanning fieldwork and processing since my university days tutoring Integrated Surveying at Curtin University and that passion has certainly not diminished one bit. If anything it has grown even more. The technology in this space is ever evolving for the better and there are so many amazing applications for the dataset and all with keeping staff members safe and minimising site visits for all consultants invol...ved. Of course that comes with an education piece on how to utilise the data best so I always make time to do so and explain its benefit for the project as a whole. My survey industry colleagues who know me well know that I do not really get to go out in the field as part of my day to day duties but I always make time for laser scanning projects. 24.01.2022 Is your Subdivision Conditional Approval eligible for an extension? Western Australias Planning and Development Act 2005 has been amended to introduce extensions to subdivision approvals. Automatic extension provisions under a new Part 18 of the Act have come already come into effect which refers to the date of 16 March 2020, being the COVID-19 emergency start date. ... This effectively extends the previous approval period by 2 years for applications that meet the following criteria: A subdivision approval was granted by the WAPC (and has not yet expired) BEFORE the 16 March 2020 The WAPC had not endorsed its approval of the diagram of survey BEFORE the 16 March 2020 The subdivision approval was granted by the WAPC ON or AFTER 16 March 2020 but the actual application for subdivision approval was made before 16 March 2020 The automatic extension detailed above DOES NOT apply to subdivision applications (Form 1A) that were lodged with the WAPC - Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage on or after 16 March 2020 An extension can however still be made in accordance with Section 145A of the act for these approvals and will be assessed independently. #urbanplanning #covid #planning #visionsc #wa #surveyor #developer #development #realestate #subdivision #subdivisionperth Vision Surveys Consulting Jay Sidhu

I have been to many where every conversation is just about getting business and to trying to sell me something or rather. To be honest I just simply shut off when that happens and lose interest.... 19.01.2022 The subdivision timeframe question This question has always been a popular one but since the State Government of WA introduced its stimulus package recently, I have been receiving even more phone calls and emails regarding timeframes of a standard subdivision. I feel that most are misinformed so I thought Id share a video explaining how long a standard subdivision would take. To have 3 months allocated to start the application process with WA Planning Commission (DPLH) a...nd to finalise a subdivision is clearly not possible but yet I keep getting calls with people having that timeframe in mind which worries me. The ravens in the video chiming in clearly tend to agree Of course you could get it done earlier than the but it will all depend on how you manage your subdivision. I always try to be realistic so that we can plan better and thats what I let my clients know as well. 16.01.2022 Bringing new life to an abandoned lot My latest project management subdivision/development in Woodlands is now underway with demolition started and progressing well. This project surely had its set of complexities with the council and the planning commission but we managed to overcome it and get a favourable response for both the WAPC Conditional Approval and Development Approval. ... All the neighbours in the area are definitely happy to see the old neglected home demolished to make way for this new development project. Trust me when I say the site was a mess. 11.01.2022 Is your subdivision fibre ready? New lots created through subdivision under the Planning and Development Act 2005 are to be provided with suitable telecommunications infrastructure. This Position Statement provides guidance on the Western Australian Planning Commission’s (WAPC) requirements for telecommunications infrastructure provision when land is subdivided for residential, commercial and industrial purposes. ... It has always been a norm for myself and our clients at Vision Surveys Consulting to organise telecommunications section anyway as part of the subdivisions we manage to eliminate issues arise when the new owners start their build. But the reality is that many opt not to do so as it is not required as part of the WAPC Conditional approval. This will start changing soon and you will start to notice telecommunications conditions soon as part of your new subdivision applications. 10.01.2022 It was a pleasure to hear Premier Mark McGowan speak at the recent UDIA WA’s luncheon end of last week. The premiere took the opportunity whilst addressing industry leaders to announce the draft Medium Density Code now out for comments which has been prepared to improve the design quality of medium density housing and to encourage better designed housing/more choice to match the changing needs and expectations of our community. The new Medium Density Housing Code is built in...to the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes). This draft new policy contains development controls for single and grouped dwellings, in areas coded R30 and above, and multiple dwellings coded R30-R60. This ranges from single detached or semi-detached houses on small lots, to terraces, villas, apartment houses and low-rise apartment buildings up to four storeys. 05.01.2022 What a year 2020 has been! 2020 has been the strangest experience all of us have had in the industry, starting the year with optimism about all those green shoots we had been discussing for years, to suddenly have the handbrake pulled on the economy when the pandemic hit, then to see everything super charged on the back of the building grants and the lift in confidence as a result of the fantastic job WA did to manage the challenges of this year.
