25.01.2022 Here's what the ladies are up to on Friday evening... "Scented in Christ - Essential oil for life". An evening of creativity and friendship with a Gospel theme.

24.01.2022 Our dear friends, Chuck and Alicia Barrett (and Zeb) left for home in the USA after 5 years in Australia as missionaries with the International Mission Board (IMB). Chuck and Alicia came out to Australia at the request of Ian Simms and the team at Mosman Park Baptist Community Church (now known as Harmony Baptist Church) to help with the replanting of that church. In 2014 Harmony Baptist Church was constitued under the umbrella body of the Baptist Churches of Western Australi...a (BCWA). The Barretts gave themselves to the task with enthusiasm and personality, and they have left the church ready for the next phase of its life. Unexpected changes in the IMB have meant that the Barretts will no longer continue in Australia, as originally planned, but instead they have taken early retirement from the mission agency. It was with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to them at the airport this morning. Chuck, Alicia and Zeb, we honour you for your magnificent devotion to Jesus. You have been steadfast, even through tears. You return home from the field, having been an inspiration and an encouragement to so many of us, and a great credit to Jesus your Lord. Travel well... and don't forget the sound of the drums! See more

20.01.2022 Samantha Whittaker, our intern, arrived this week from the USA. She will be with us for two months.

19.01.2022 For a wonderfully rich 9 days of prayer, worship and ministry at the end of July 2016, we were privileged to host 8 exceptional people from El Paso's Cielo Vista Church in Texas, USA. It was the culmination of a joint venture that got started 15 months earlier when Dr Larry Lamb, the Senior Pastor of Cielo Vista, visited Perth for an IMB conference at which Ian Simms and Chuck Barrett were also present. In an amazingly short space of time, the team endeared themselves to our ...small church, and they encouraged us immensely in our ministry here in Perth. We are grateful to all the folk at Cielo Vista who made it possible for the team to come out. You were also a part of the wonderful event. Our hosts did a great job of looking after the team and we are grateful for their efforts too. (You'll be pleased to know... all 8 Texans survived the spiders and other creepy-crawlies of our lovely Australia!) See more

18.01.2022 Sunday, 25 September was one of those red-letter days. Mickey Stirrup got baptised, after having made a commitment months ago to following Jesus with his life. Our church gathered at Graham and Jenni's home where we were able to hold our church service for that day, and we were able to use their swimming pool to conduct the ceremony. It was a special moment as Mickey gave credit to Jesus for turning his life around. (The white sheet draped around Mickey as he came up out of the water symbolises his being clothed in the righteousness of Christ.)

18.01.2022 Wayne and Janean Hicks. Wayne is our Outreach Developer with a passion for sharing the good news about Christ.

17.01.2022 On Sunday, 3 July we were pleased to welcome Ming and Sandy Lai and their family (Lydia, Lynette, Lyssa and Jonathan) from Evangel Christian Fellowship. They came to encourage us and they joined our worship team for the day. What a great time of worship we had together! Ming shared a little of their experience in church planting in the south of Perth.

17.01.2022 Samantha Whittaker, our intern from the USA, is rapidly coming to the end of her time with us. This is her final week. We'll have chance to pray for her and thank her on Sunday at church (remember church is at 5:30pm this week, not at the usual morning time).

16.01.2022 Men, this is for you. Our next Iron Shed breakfast is coming up on Saturday, 1 August (08:00-09:30am). Topic of the talk: "Keeping balance in the workplace." Speaker: Dushan Jeyabalan (Baptist World Aid). It's a free breakfast at Graham & Jenni's home. Please just text you're coming to Ian on 0424-917-915.

16.01.2022 Fresh Talk last month went really well. Here are the links to the videos of each of the panellists. We'll have them on the Fresh Talk website as well (www.freshtalk.com.au), along with the promotion of the next Fresh Talk event: Introduction by Ian Simms - https://youtu.be/iKU5Ogz6Ob0 Dr Jeremy Rawlins - https://youtu.be/N-eiWcfGLAs Dr David Michie - https://youtu.be/kLhMuw7BZp0 Dr Brian Harris - https://youtu.be/F3prL6nWj_8

16.01.2022 We're so excited to share with everyone an upcoming event that we're hosting. Check out the link below.

15.01.2022 The Getaway Weekend is just around the corner (11-13 Sept) at Orchard Glory Farm Resort. Great chance to hear from God, connect with our lovely folk and have some fun. Dr Andre van Oudtshoorn (Perth Bible College) will be leading the teaching sessions and Ryan Quicke is taking care of the worship. We even have good friends, Desiree Hamann and Emmalee Quicke, to make the time special for the kids.

14.01.2022 There is so much beauty and stunning detail in our world. Busyness can so easily rob us of the chance to notice what God has given. The ladies want to invite other ladies to join them in an event designed to increase our appreciation of our world. Friday, 14 October at 7:00pm. Details in the flyer alongside. Great food, good friends, refreshing insight! (Flyer created by Elise Leung.)

12.01.2022 Some activities that I should have posted earlier...Sorry. The competition was fierce at the annual sandcastle-building at City Beach again. The latent engineers in some of the teams came to the fore. Vigorous patching and praying could not prevent the collapse of other sandcastles! Mmm, there's a sermon illustration in there somewhere. (Thanks to Edwin & Sandra for organising the event.)

12.01.2022 Wrapping Christmas gifts can be fun, can't they? That's what the ladies discovered at their end-of-year breakfast in December. Entitled "Under the gift wrap: Unwrapping the gift of Christ", the ladies thought about the tremendous gift that God gave to the world in Christ, as Sue Simms spoke about unwrapping the gift of Christ's grace, his love and his word. And some creative ideas for wrapping gifts were shared by Maureen McDonald. Of course, there was food and laughter too. The event included the preparation of gift hampers which will be given out to people in the community to encourage them at Christmas. Thanks to Jenni Croot for organising a marvellous event.

12.01.2022 Great talk from Prof. Arlene Chan on Saturday at the Fresh Talk! So many myths associated with cancer were exploded. It was encouraging to hear how research into cancer is helping us get on top of the disease and increase the survival rate. Fantastic work being done by the Breast Cancer Research Centre WA www.bcrc-wa.com.au . Sue Simms also gave a personal account of some of the surprises that have come out of her cancer challenges. Good job, ladies!

11.01.2022 At the end of August, some of us were mad enough to participate in the 2015 Perth City to Surf walk/run. Andrew and Brent did the serious run, with excellent result. Others of us took the scenic route (the walk)! All good fun, of course.

09.01.2022 Iron Shed... The men got to hear Pieter De Wit tell his story at the Men's Breakfast in November about the crash that nearly took his life. Pieter's jetcar racer malfunctioned during a race in February 2013 and he smashed into the protective wall at the end of the raceway. He survived the crash and has been sharing what he learned through that dreadful incident.

07.01.2022 Our recent links with Scarborough Baptist Church recently have helped Ian with the weekly preaching load. Matt Hall, the Associate Pastor at SBC, joined us on Sunday, 2 October along with his lovely family. We have been privileged to hear him speak twice now since the arrangement has been put into place. Chad Power, also from Scarborough Baptist, preached in June. (Photo: Matt Hall)

05.01.2022 Part of the children's ministry of Freshwater Church.

04.01.2022 Another Fresh Talk is coming up this month. Entitled, "Loosening the grip of cancer", the event takes place on Saturday, 17 October 2015 from 3:00-5:00pm at the Palms Community Centre (cnr Thomas & Rokeby Rds, Subiaco). It will host guest panellist, Prof. Arlene Chan, a leading medical oncologist here in Perth. There will be questions and answers, and Sue Simms will also share a personal story of loosening the grip that cancer holds. Check out the link www.freshtalk.com.au

03.01.2022 Current sermon series - following on with "The Saviour has come!" which follows the story of Jesus through the Gospel of Luke.

03.01.2022 So sad to say goodbye to two wonderful families as they returned to the USA! The Fielders left at the end of June, and the Boutiliers fly out tonight. Thanks, guys, for all you've done among us at Freshwater Church while you've been in Australia.

03.01.2022 Through May and June this year, we hosted an Alpha Course that gave 15 people a chance to explore what Christianity was all about. The Alpha DVDs, presented by two Canadian guys, were wonderfully interactive. On one of the weekends we spent the Saturday in the hills of Perth at the bush block owned by Dennis and Jenny Jones, which gave us chance to complete several sessions, and have relaxed conversations about faith and spirituality. Thanks to Graham & Jenni for letting us use their home each week, and to Dennis and Jenny Jones for the use of their home in the hills. Great opportunity, great food, great conversations!
