21.01.2022 It's that time of year again and Swellnet is putting on another board swap, teaming up with Lifeline Northern Beaches and Saltbush Cafe to run a morning fundraiser for the 2020 Lifeline Classic. We've all had friends and family impacted by mental health and more so this year with the fires and now recent flooding. To help raise money for Lifeline, Swellnet is taking part in a tag-team surf fundraiser event at the end of March. A big part of the event is the fundraising and they will be running a BOARD SWAP EVENT where you can SELL YOUR NEW OR USED BOARDS (not trashed) with a small percentage of sales going to Lifeline. Saltbush Cafe will be putting on a BBQ so come down and get behind a great cause. 9am Sunday March 22nd

The free camp will be run over one day and will cater to kids who are both new to SLS and those who have been involved and would like to improve their skills. See attached for more details

16.01.2022 Volunteer surf lifesaving patrols have been cancelled for the remainder of the season. The unprecedented decision was made to protect the safety and welfare of volunteer surf lifesavers from potential infection by the COVID-19 virus and to discourage large gatherings of people on popular beaches. Freshwater SLSC look forward to welcoming you back onto our beach in September for the start of the 2020-2021 season (and wouldnt it be nice to just fast forward to September right now!!)

09.01.2022 Social distancing, self-isolation were all living with a tremendous amount of stress. As anxiety and uncertainty increase, we need to remember the importance... of connection. @lifeline advise it's important not to shut ourselves off from the rest of the world. In fact, its quite the opposite. Isolation can cause emotional distress if social connection isnt maintained in non-physical ways. Along with picking up the phone, video calling, texting, messaging and emailing here are some ways to stay connected if self-isolating: - Find a buddy, or group, to set daily challenges with. These could include a healthy habit, a mindful practice, a creative pursuit. Be sure to encourage and check in daily to stay motivated. - Set dates and times to watch the same TV shows/movies with someone and message each other your thoughts along the way kind of like Goggle Box but you're not sharing the couch! Above all, lets remember we are ALL community and stay connected to each other. 09.01.2022 Mick Griffin has been a member of our club for over 50 years and during that time he has got a bit of a reputation ... a good one ... of looking after his mates, whether they are stuck at home, in a nursing home or in hospital. He is the inspiration of this group. The aim of Micks Mates is to connect people within the club who need help with those who are able to lend a hand, especially at a time when people might be stuck at home. Requests for help can be as simple or as c...omplex as you like ... Ive run out of loo paper to ... my partner is in hospital and I need help with meals Prayer requests can also be posted here too. Because social isolation makes it difficult for people to stay connected, and because many regular opportunities for club members to connect are winding to a close for the season, now is the time to start this group. This group will work if there are enough people putting their hand up for help dont be afraid to ask!, and enough people are regularly checking the group and putting their hand up to help. It will also be more effective if people that are connected with older members of our club post requests on their behalf (only with their permission). 09.01.2022 Due to the recent loss and toll that mental health has had on our club (North Curl Curl), myself and the rest of my U19 boating rowing crew ( The Donkeys ) have put together a concert with some of the local bands to raise funds for Gotcha4life and spread the awareness of the mental health with the youth.
