24.01.2022 Easter is a Christian celebration and since the Japanese people mostly believe in the Shinto or Buddhist religion Easter is not widely recognised in Japan. Many Japanese people have not even heard of Easter and therefore do not know about this occasion. I guess this saves the Easter Bunny a bit of time when he is busy delivery his eggs to all the good boys and girls here in Australia! Have a wonderful Easter break.

15.01.2022 Freshwater State School wins the Upper Primary FNQ Sumo Robotics Challenge! After three intensive weeks of constructing and programming their robots, our two teams competed at St Mary’s today, against schools from around Cairns and beyond. This is the first time Freshwater SS has participated in this popular competition. In a spectacular finish, our teams ‘Trial and Error’ and ‘Termitato’ were both in the grand final after dominating the round robin stages and demolishing t...he opposition in each of their semi finals. ‘Trial and Error’ were the ultimate winners after winning 2 rounds to 1. ‘Trial and Error’ also reached the semi finals of the Open category, after competing against students from primary and secondary schools. The trophy received, for the overall winning school, will be on display in the administration office next week. Merci beaucoup to Dr Chris Corniaux, for your continued commitment, and thank you to all the parents in attendance for your support.

11.01.2022 Dear Parents and Caregivers, This year the Year 5 Camp will be held at the Daradgee Environmental Education Centre from Tuesday the 12th of June to Friday the 15th of June. More information about the school camp and cost will be sent via email this week. As part of the Pre Camp school visit, Daradgee staff will be visiting Freshwater SS on Tuesday the 27th March to work with teachers and students.... The aim of this visit is to share with teachers and students, an understanding of how a Daradgee camp experience operates by working with students to inform them about camp activities, expectations and preparations. The staff will work with students and engage in team challenges throughout the day. If you have any further queries or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher in the first instance. 05.01.2022 Year 5 Precamp School Visit Despite the rain and flooding, our visit from Daragee still went ahead! Noel and Amanda presented information about what activities the kids would be doing and then we went out to the canopy for some team building activities. The students did really well!
