23.01.2022 Who can resist? Acai bowl with a beetroot twist, flaked coconut, fresh berries and house made granola! Gimme gimme! Good bit of fibre for healthy digestion, antioxidants because really, antioxidants are life, and a nice bit of protein with a sprinkle of chia courtesy of @drugstoreespresso really great set up, great variety on the menu, clean wholefoods, awesome staff and free wifi! 23.01.2022 Warm spiced dandelion tea A great alternative for coffee if your looking to eliminate or cut down on your caffeine intake, this cup still had added spices of chicory, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg to give it that little kick. Two cups of this a day is sure to keep you regular! Why I love it... cleanses the liver by aiding digestion and maintaining the proper flow of bile helps with blood sugar regulation as it stimulates the production of insulin from the pancreas keeping blood sugar levels low (and this is what causes diabetes, if our pancreas cannot produce proper amounts of insulin) high in antioxidants preventing certain types of cell damage caused by oxidation. ANTI-oxidant, get it? :)

21.01.2022 Good start to the day! After a little sleep in and a good gym session this little gem is perfect for an after workout snack. Full of protein from a palm size of hazelnuts, Brazil nuts and walnuts mixed with oats and topped with a small banana and cinnamon Im getting all my fibre, protein, complex carbohydrates and cinnamon to control my blood sugar and a little extra pep for the rest of the day :) easy and oh so good

17.01.2022 I just picked up my hot water and lemon ritual again feeling like my body just needs a bit of a reset and a kickstart! I love it because it detoxifies the body, assisting the liver to excrete all those nasty toxins aswell as giving my digestive system a kick start! Lemon juice actually helps to break down food in your stomach as it stimulates the excretion of digestive juices for optimal digestion For me its also important to create morning habits, I know every morning I... am going to wake up, pop the kettle on and enjoy 10minutes of mindfulness while I drink my warm tea and take a moment to set up my day My recipe: Half squeeze lemon in hot water. 14.01.2022 Acai smoothies and hot chai lattes, the best combination This little parfait is a refreshing variation on the classic mixed with coconut yogurt, fresh fruit and gluten free vegan granola. Happy place. As much as I love this morning ritual, Its important to understand although rich in antioxidants, fibre and good fats it does have a high sugar and calorie content. Natural sugars paired with good fats, fibre and protein is a good combination to slow down the release of insulin and lower the glycaemic impact on the body but just be mindful to balance it out throughout the day with lots of fresh veggies, good quality proteins and keep moving

Make sure you have healthy snacks on hand on days like these to save you from getting so hangryyyyy and eating all of the food! Practising discipline and self control, it aint easy so thats why it helps to get in before your blood sugar starts dropping and your energy starts fading! Happy hump day

02.01.2022 That brain-gut connection... More and more patients are coming in to our clinic to help them with symptoms of an inflamed gut. Little do people realise the connection our tummies have on our brain and our emotional wellbeing and vice versa. It makes sense. Why wouldnt an upset and inflamed gut have an effect on our emotions aswell as physics symptoms. Why wouldnt the foods we eat affect this axis and interrupt the balance of our gut and the functions of what it is design...ed to do. Makes sense. I have been lucky enough to start helping some people in our clinic with these issues and help educate on the importance of what we eat :) when you start to explore something you find that it keeps popping up in life and this topic is running red hot! I had the pleasure of this recommendation on the weekend, a book from Giulia Enders into the understanding of our inner workings Cant wait to have a read!

02.01.2022 Brunch done very well Paleo pumpkin bread with a poached egg, sauted greens with dukka, sundries tomato and olive mix with a side of homemade Kombucha. What a mouthful but oh so good My mission these holidays is to make my own kombucha, so easy yet something else always takes priority! Kombucha is fermented tea full of probiotics which are good for your gut, mind, immune system and tastes sahhh fressh Ill be sure to update on my experiments! Happy Thursday x

01.01.2022 Experiment continues for the perfect smoothies! Most often by random ingredients you find the perfect blend 1 banana, 5 strawberries, 2 dates, 1 TBSP almond butter, 1/2 TSP cinnamon, topped with almond milk and ice I would love to make my own almond milk I just havent gotten the chance so my go to is pure harvest organic almond milk, in Coles in the longlife milk section I find has the most almonds (10%) can you tell I love almonds! Nut butter is the key flavour hit in this smoothie and is full of protein and healthy fats for glowing skin and for satiety to keep you fulller for longer. Dates are also a really great addition to your morning smoothies to give you a bit of energy without the sugar spikes, low GI, high fibre, and gives it that creamy taste of caramel!
