25.01.2022 Checking out Luciano's new range of Gypsy Jazz guitars.... the "Jazz Manouche" Completely forgot the chords I was playing over but held it together more or less

25.01.2022 My top 5 for Best Guitar Solos

24.01.2022 This be good line up.

24.01.2022 My Swing and Gypsy Jazz Duo - Duo Narcos.... My Maton broke previous night and had to grab out the wife's acoustic, chuck new strings on. Adam Brown Strummer is taking care of me Maton now.... Karin Griffin is on the violin. Should get her fuzz and Wah pedal out some day and pimp up the style a little bit. Maybe should be a #NationalFunkDay or something where everything has to be turned funky, where flares, use a Wah Wah and have sideburns etc... sounds good to me.

22.01.2022 Here is my current Right Hand Picking technique workout. Make sure you have one. If not sure, can always ask etc. When creating one, have in mind the genre, artist, instrument (acoustic, electric etc) to define your choices. My workout is dynamic and I vary the picking patterns - all are valid. It becomes personal choice at the end of the day. The sound generated by the technique should be a consideration, too!

17.01.2022 Always an interesting week. So good to see people progress. And my goal is to coach so that you realise things yourself, education has a greater impact that way. And music is always a self-educating process. Only you can really tell yourself how to play that chord, or bend that string.

11.01.2022 Apparently Robert Johnson, when playing in the street with the crowd gathered round him, would turn around if he clocked someone looking at what he was playing. This was their trade, their income. Someone copying their licks and ideas was gonna impact that. I think me fave Robert Johnson song is Hellhound on my trail.... "Blues falling down like hail..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHAIgpih86E

10.01.2022 I thought I'd rank my top 5 Pink Floyd Albums for Guitar Solos today, why not eh? :D 1: Animals - All the solos are killer... it's the mood energy and sound that all make it hit the mark for me. Really dark and probably represents the mood of the time perfectly. You can also hear the ideas developing for Comfortably Numb in the Pigs solo. Dogs is just sublime. This album has a sound all of it's own. A friend at school lent me her copy. It was a cassette - on one side Animal...s, the other Momentary Lapse. I loved the complete contrast and sound of the two albums. She changed my life :D 2: The Final Cut - Again, the sound is really unique, almost metallic?? All of the solos are minimalist, and full of choice notes. Great phrasing. First note of Final Cut solo is a F bent up whole tone to G over the A minor chord - sweet as!! I stole the "Your Possible Pasts" in my music course years ago to get a good grade for the performance we were doing that week. 3: The Wall - This album blew my mind when I first heard it as a kid. I knew from then on what sort of music I was into and what I wanted from music, too. No compromises on quality, attitude, and impact. Another Brick in the Wall pt 2 is classic, and Comfortably Numb still kicks ass for the emotive quality. A "must look at" example of how to use the pentatonic scale to great effect 4: Meddle - One of These Days and Echoes, can ignore the rest :D Not much to say apart form mucho good. It just sounds loud!! 5: Wish You Were Here This beat Dark Side of the Moon for me because of Shine on you Crazy Diamond. I first heard this on an aeroplane and it was back in the day when you heard a looping pre-recorded radio show, and I had to time it right so that I didn't have to listen to the other crap, but could pick up the station again in time to hear this.

09.01.2022 Watching these vids makes you realise that even a basic Les Paul Marshall sound requires a lot of detail when playing on the big stages https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htjhWRG9llI AC/DC have one damn precise set up as well

09.01.2022 SUNDAY SESSIONS https://fretroom.com.au/11th-frets/sunday-sessions These are changing. I really like doing this and you do too.... BUT I can no longer do them Sunday mornings. But YOU can!! So communicate via Facebook, or let me know during lesson that you are keen to have a jam. I will let someone else know that will be complimentary to you so you can have that jam at a place of your choosing. Keep it at Sunday @ 10:00 so that we all know where we stand. If you want to do additional jams, go for it. If you want me to help you prepare, let me know. Communication is key
