23.01.2022 This week is Antimicrobial Awareness Week. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites resist the effects of medications, making common infections harder to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death. Antimicrobials are agents that are critical tools for fighting diseases in humans, animals and plants and include antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal and antiprotozoal medicines. Multiple factors including overuse of medicines in humans, livestock, and agriculture, as well as poor access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene have accelerated the threat of antimicrobial resistance worldwide. #wearethefriendlies #AMR #drugresistance

You may be trade qualified and looking to start your career, or you may be an experienced Plumber looking for a new opportunity. In this role, you would be responsible for all aspects of plumbing and drainage maintenance requirements, including installation, repairs and maintenance of pipes, fixtures and other plumbing infrastructure used for water distribution and wastewater disposal throughout the hospital, hospital-owned residences and our off-site pharmacy. The employment hours are Monday to Friday business hours, nine (9) day fortnight roster with a rotational roster for on-call maintenance work, 1 week in every 5 weeks. The Person Strong emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s ability to demonstrate our organisational values of Courage, Diligence, Compassion, Wisdom and Friendliness, as well as their ability to commit to and apply these values in the workplace. Key Selection Criteria for this position includes: Minimum Certificate III Plumbing Qualification and Tradesperson Certificate with current certification in Plumbing and Gasfitting Current C class drivers’ licence (essential), Construction Industry White card (essential), QBCC license (desirable) and Certificate II Split Systems license (desirable) Demonstrated experience installing, repairing and maintaining domestic, commercial and industrial water and wastewater systems and equipment Proven ability to supervise, train and support team members in a trades/maintenance environment Strong time management and daily planning skills Experience in Gas Appliance Fitting, Refrigeration, Backflow Prevention and TMV units (desirable) How to Apply Please submit your application on our website https://thefriendlies.org.au/careers/ including the following: 1.
