12.01.2022 "During Melbourne’s lockdown the activity within the reserve has been remarkable. The reserve has provided an escape for hundreds of locals, many of whom have discovered our little oasis for the first time. The benefits of the reserve are many, it provides a location for exercise, a place to connect with nature and, during the coming warmer months, it will provide a refuge several degrees cooler than the surrounding streets" From this months newsletter, out now! http://www....friendsofdampercreek.org.au/ Have you visited Damper Creek this lockdown? We would love to hear from you!

10.01.2022 In spite of the lockdown things have not ground to a standstill in Damper Creek. Approximately 4000 plants funded from the Melbourne Water grant have been planted in various locations around the Reserve. Unfortunately, the ban on gatherings prevented these from being planted as part of a Community Planting Day in winter. The Council Bushcrew planted these for us in addition to their normal maintenance duties. ... Some members of FoDCR have shared their love with certain sections of the Reserve and potential weed outbreaks have been prevented. This preventative weeding allowed Council staff to plant in a comparatively weed free area! More info in this months newsletter http://www.friendsofdampercreek.org.au/

03.01.2022 A message for our bike-using friends If using the track with a bike for exercise, please go slow, give way to pedestrians, and ring on approach (ding! passing! ) - or better yet, take a quiet slow stroll, push the bike along, and enjoy the peace of the bush The pathways in Damper Creek Reserve are an ecological corridor and designated as walking trails. This is a shared respectful space for the whole community and for wildlife
