25.01.2022 Question for the week: What habits make your life worth living?

19.01.2022 Thank you Marianne, Fiona and those who were able to come along today - It was a lovely afternoon!

16.01.2022 If you are a Hospice Care North West Volunteer and would like to help out for a couple of hours whenever there is a coffee morning happening feel free to inbox here or phone the office on 6440 7110 and we will be in touch....

15.01.2022 Question for the week: How old were you when you first realised you would eventually die?

14.01.2022 Today, Gaylene was presented with initial 'care package' gifts for Hospice Care North West clients from their volunteer. All current clients receiving services and all future clients will receive one when their volunteer visits. This is in addition to the small wish request or an immediate need being met, which is available for all clients receiving services. If you think Hospice Care may be able to assist either yourself, a family member or friend, just give them a call on 6440 7110 to enquire. Their services are free!

12.01.2022 Next Monday with thanks to Blokker Flowers, Hospice Care North West Volunteers including those currently in training, are having a gold coin donation afternoon for the "When Quality of Life Matters Most" fund. It's an afternoon of learning, conversation and flowers. We will be posting some pictures after the event so we can share it with you all. Fiona Jones from Hobart, will be chatting about Sociopsychological Care in Palliative Care: focusing on the social care needs. We will also be able to meet Kendall, the new Social Worker with the North West Palliative Care Team based in Burnie. So if you are a volunteer with Hospice Care North West or are in the current training group, don't forget to RSVP by this Friday if you can :)

12.01.2022 Given the upcoming holiday season, if you would like to "Host a Coffee Morning with a Difference", we will be holding them up until the end of the first week in December, resuming early February. If you would like to enquire about having one, you can simply send a message via the inbox on this page or phone the office on 6440 7110.

11.01.2022 Hi Everyone - we would like to introduce a new group who will be on Facebook soon - 'Friends of Island Care'. This is an invitation open to anyone with an interest in this field. 11.01.2022 Our aim is to fulfill a small but meaningful wish or an immediate need for individuals currently receiving services through Hospice Care North West. With thanks to everyone on this page, their family, friends, our volunteers and those who have assisted behind the scenes, clients are able to access this fund. In a couple of weeks, all recipients of Hospice Care North West, will be receiving a small 'care package' gift from their volunteer when they next visit, so we sincerely thank you all for helping to make this a reality also :)

02.01.2022 Question for the week: Imagine you were lost at sea and your family had to pay for the search to find you. Who should make decisions about how long to search for you?

02.01.2022 We are often bombarded with advertisements about life insurance, prepaid funerals and making sure we have a will. But how often do we talk with those we care for most, about the dying process itself? How often do we consider what kind of care we would like in our last days or months? Each week, on both our social media pages, we will be posting a question to stimulate thought and discussion about this very important time in our lives. The questions are taken from My Gift of Grace card pack, which is a conversation game for living and dying well. You can either post an answer here or simply start a conversation with someone you know. Stay tuned....
