08.01.2022 It's not just the Friends of Lake Modda out hunting down South African Weed Orchids. We removed over five kilograms of weed orchids from the Lake edge over the weekend. The weed orchids seed prolifically, and are spread by vehicles. Fortunately in this case this weed does not impact on the surrounding agricultural areas. Unfortunately they do, however out compete the native orchids, lilies and grasses of the basalt plains grasslands that form the banks of the lake.
