22.01.2022 Did you know commercial shooters in Australia kill more than two million wild kangaroos in their native habitat every year, making it the largest commercial slaughter of any mammal in the world? The motivation for this killing is ruthlessly simple: taking their skins to use in athletic shoes. The Center for a Humane Economy and Animal Wellness Action are sounding the alarm and demanding it stop. Right now. We are conducting investigations, producing videos, introducing legislation, securing media coverage and enlisting athletes and other advocates around the globe to help end this archaic and cruel trade.

17.01.2022 The Heritage Golf and Country Club in Victoria has a permit to kill the small kangaroo population that lives on the golf course. The permit indicates that the kangaroos will be killed for pet food. Please sign and share this important petition - and never, ever buy kangaroo products.

Our native wildlife deserves so much better than this. Cull permits and ‘harvest’ plans must be ended, and instead a focus put on non-lethal alternatives. 12.01.2022 There are almost 1,000 animal and plant species at risk of extinction in NSW. Despite this, we’ve just learned that the Liberal/National Government is introduc...ing changes to the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme that will actually make it easier for developers to clear threatened species habitat. This could be another step closer to extinction for more of our most beloved critters - such as the Koala, Regent Honeyeater, Rock Wallabies and Red Tailed Black Cockatoo, pictured below. They tried to keep it quiet but thanks to a fellow animal-lover we found out and convinced them to accept submissions until 3 May - so please make a quick submission now for the sake of our threatened species!

05.01.2022 ....there is no working definition or accepted meaning for the words ‘overabundant’ or ‘pest’ in any legislation. Basically, it comes down to a handful of lobbyists and other squeaky wheels defining anything they deem to be a nuisance as ‘overabundant’, irrespective of its threat status, ecological role, or purported impacts. It is, therefore, entirely subjective, and boils down to this: If I don’t like it, it’s an overabundant pest. The second major issue I have with this ...entire, sorted affair is that the ‘impacts’ that many bang on about are also almost entirely anecdotal. Certain pastoralists will claim heavy losses from kangaroos, or that little corellas do $xxx amount of damage per year. But then when anyone with a modicum of quantitative nouse looks into the actual evidence, there is typically bugger all no economic modelling, no actuarial reports, no quantified data whatsoever.
