23.01.2022 Following the news of further spread of coronavirus in Sydney and the cancellation of Sydney Grade cricket, and in consultation with Baseball NSW, it has been decided to cancel this weekends games. If it is believed necessary for play off purposes, First Grade games may be rescheduled. We are aware that this will cause disappointment, but are firmly of the belief that the health of all our members must be the main priority. Kerry Jackson.

17.01.2022 T'was a month before Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown. The frown had begun... Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s December And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, Who will see it, No one but me. But outside my window The rain gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas is not cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope Keep it going! (Copy&Paste) See more

10.01.2022 Following our announcement yesterday (20th of August), we have received several inquiries whether players are permitted to compete in current or upcoming competition based on their geographical location. The NSW Government have advised the following: If participants are members of a club not located within their local area, they should consider whether it is necessary to participate in club activities at this time. Participants should not be travelling into Greater Sydney fro...m regional NSW to participate in activities nor travelling across regions in regional NSW. In regional NSW (ie outside of Greater Sydney), existing competition structures or scheduling should aim to minimise the need for overnight travel. If overnight travel is required in order to participate in sporting activities in regional NSW, car pooling or other shared transport arrangements should be avoided. The use of shared accommodation facilities that would lead to mixing of people from different households should also be avoided. Based on the above, BNSW encourages its members to adhere to the recommendations concerning travel within the Greater Sydney region and regional areas. Local competitions are permitted to continue, with participation in these competitions having certain flexibility in allowing members the ability to travel. With that being said, associations, clubs, and players have a responsibility to the wider community to stop the transmission of the COVID-19 virus which includes not participating in club activities that require travelling out of their local area. However, should players travel between regions, we strongly recommend that they do not carpool and avoid overnight travel as best they can. Below is an outline of what the NSW Government constitutes as the Greater Sydney region. Please could players take this into account when considering whether it is necessary to travel outside of or into the Greater Sydney region and regional areas.

09.01.2022 This week we are saying safe travels to longtime NSW Umpire Bob Crawford. After many years of plans being disrupted he is finally making his long awaited move to Bali. Bob has been an integral part of the umpiring world in NSW longer than I care to remember. His efforts with the development and improvement of Baseball Park have set the guidelines for club interaction with councils in NSW. On behalf of State League I would like to wish Bob all the best in his long awaited re...tirement. He will always be a welcome visitor at any time should he be back visiting Sydney. Good luck and God speed my friend. Take care. See more

08.01.2022 Blacktown Workers are excited to announce our 2020 Winter workouts leading in to Spring Training for the upcoming 2020/21 State Baseball League Season. Open tr...youts (see dates below) will also be held during the winter workouts for all new players and those wishing to trial for the U18 Roster. We have been fortunate enough to have the support of our local neighbours the Quakers Hill Pirates and are happy to announce that we will be holding all preseason workouts at the beautiful Corbin Reserve facility. Corbin will allow our assembled staff to work multiple options with the access to 5 diamonds, tunnels and multiple bullpens catering to our Workers Way development and preparation process. Heading up our our Program is long time Head Coach Ben McGuire. McGuire (2018/19 State League Manager of the Year) has been fortunate to work in numerous programs catering to NSW Player Development these past years and has assembled a young group to complement our veteran core of current and former ABL players, like Team Australia pitcher Josh Guyer, Matthew Rae, Todd Grattan, Josh Strong, Grant Piccoli and Liam Doolan. During the Covid period Ben has been active in up-skilling the program, with the staff going through various accreditation programs being offered by Baseball Australia, along with advanced sabermetric training. With younger players striving to advance to the Collegiate and Professional level it has never been more important to be versed in the various data and strength driven programs, we have heavily invested in current day best practice technologies such as Driveline, Blast, Rapsodo and data driven analytics in roster and lineup construction. At Workers Baseball we feel we offer not only a friendly and safe environment but one that promotes athletic growth and development.... Joining Ben on his staff are long time pitching coach Craig Forward. With over 20 years experience, Forwood has worked with numerous workers players that have gone on to the next level both locally and internationally. Brendon Bojarski returns as Manager for the 2nd grade team. In January Bojarski would lead the NSW 16U team at the National Championships. Along with managing NSW he works in numerous BNSW programs as the catching instructor. Ben Spence returns to manage 3rd Grade after leading the Ballclub to a Championship in the 2019/20 season. Ben will also act as the outfield coordinator. Nathan Wright will expand his role with the ballclub this season and act as the Hitting Coordinator. A former hitting coach in the ABL, current NSW 18U manager and instructor with the BNSW HP programs. Nathan will also take a more active role with the workers 18s ballclub this year. It’s worth noting that several of our former players will head up or are heavily involved with other State League programs this summer. It’s a credit to our ballclub that we not only have a workers alumni & life member Jason Pospishil heading up BNSW Player Development but our players are courted heavily for their expertise and experience gained as long time workers family. We wish all those guys the best and are proud of the prominent player development roles they will provide to the greater baseball community... In the coming months we look forward to announcing our player signings as we go through the pre-season process and we look forward to seeing our players return on July 12... I welcome all new and young players serious about their development to come and workout with us and see for yourself what we have to offer. If you’re new to the senior elite level baseball scene or you’re just wondering what else is out there. There is no commitment for o sign but you owe it to yourself to explore the best options for you. We hope you include us on your visits to numerous SBL programs... Yours in Baseball, Stephen Burt (President) Winter Workouts/Spring Training Sundays @ Corbin Reserve Pye Road, Quakers Hill Time: 10am - 1pm 12 July, 19 July, 26 July, 2 August, 9 August, 16 August, 23 August 30 August. 06.01.2022 So after everything has calmed down from that amazing game on Wednesday night, I would just like to offer a few words of thanks. Thanks to all the helpers I've had over the past few weeks, canteen helpers, scorers, scoreboard. grounds helpers, rubbish collectors, all those who make it possible for the games to happen. Congratulations to all the winners, commiserations to the losers, but you all gave it your all. Thanks to the teams for their patience with the game allocations, it's not easy when you have no idea when the next game will be played, but they were ready to go at the drop of a rosin bag. And lastly, thanks that the season is finally over.
