16.01.2022 Into November the Mantis orchids are finishing their flowering season. This photo was taken around mid October when most were already in full bloom.

08.01.2022 This Sunday, 2nd Nov, 2014, at 10 am we will be running the inaugural Friends bike tour of the Inverleigh Nature Conservation Reserve. We will meet around the reserve noticeboard at the Teesdale end (North end) of the reserve. The noticeboard is just beside the main road (Inverleigh-Teesdale Rd) at the corner of Woolbrook track (the west side of the main rd) when you enter the reserve from the Teesdale end. If you come by car, park down the track and off the main road. Our ri...de will be a relaxed, guided bike tour of 10-15 km on sandy tracks, visiting and exploring a variety of special places. It will take approximately two hours and return to the start. Children will need to be supervised by guardians at all times. Helmets and drink bottles are needed. The tracks are sandy and difficult to ride in places and we will be doing some easy walking into the bush as well. We will carry basic tools, first aid and puncture repair gear. Participants will be given a map on the day and we will explore and see many places not many people even know about including swamps, hidden dams, coastal tea trees, sand banks, the sedgelands, high conservation enclosed areas, groomed areas and riding on some of the tracks closed normally for car access, and more.. It is highly possible we may see echidnas, koalas, wallabys, kangaroos, reptiles and a great variety of bird life. Additionally, there are still many special and rare plants flowering and it is lovely to get out in the bush, especially at this time of year.

04.01.2022 The last walk, Sunday 10 Nov was pretty amazing... purple diuris, feather heads, onion orchids, Hoary Sunray .. a secret meadow. .. and I accidentally scrubbed my pics. Have to go back but all this rain makes it a dodgy proposition with a two wheel drive. Well the purple diuris is one of the most beautiful indigenous orchids I've seen. I guess I could go to the Mornington Peninsula or the grampians - the only other places it is found! But it's nearly finished.
04.01.2022 The flowers and the bush are looking pretty good right now so we will be holding a guided wildflower walk this Sunday, 19/10/14, at 2.00 pm , meeting at the signboard near the Inverleigh entrance - next to the golf course off Common Rd, Inverleigh. Feel free to bring a friend or the whole family. The forecast is for 27 so bring some drinking water and a hat. We will drive to some of the best locations and have a billy tea on the track at 3.30. Those who wish to can continue on to see more of our unique bushland and its marvels.

02.01.2022 Our annual Boneseed Pull is on Sunday 31st August: 1pm. Meet at Camp Track, which runs off the left hand (Eastern) side off the Teesdale/Inverleigh Road if y...ou're heading south towards Inverleigh. The Boneseed Pull is an important part of stopping INCR from being overrun from boneseed (a highly invasive Sth African shrubby woody weed). Boneseed has caused major degradation in areas where it has got out of control eg: the You Yangs in the past.
