24.01.2022 This is what happens to the camp area when it rains - some of our members arrived early for the working bee and became trapped for 5 days.

24.01.2022 Our next General Meeting of Members will be held on Friday 12 July 2019 at 7 pm at the Uniting Church, 93 Crittenden Road, Findon.

22.01.2022 Due to rain events in the area, our 2019 Working Bee was cancelled and will be rescheduled for 2020. Dates yet to be confirmed.

22.01.2022 Covid 19 meant that we cancelled our Working Bee scheduled for May and its only recently that we have been able to look at rescheduling for late July/early August. Its been 2 years since we have been able to work at Dalhousie due to rain events and so we are keen to get active again. We have to restrict the number of vehicles for this year and we are lucky to have filled the spaces available from the members who had indicated interest earlier in the year. In 2021 we hope that Covid 19 will be well behind us and that we can return to Dalhousie with some new projects to tackle requiring participation from more of our members. The main thing is that "We are back in action"

21.01.2022 We have traditionally held 4 meetings in a calendar year, the last one being in November. The committee has decided that November meeting will be purely a social function - a dinner instead of a formal meeting Where - The Maylands Hotel - 67 Phillis street Maylands. When - Friday 8th November from 6.30pm... This is advance notice for your diary and members will be sent a formal invitation in early October asking for an RSVP so we can confirm the booking.

16.01.2022 NEWS FLASH - 2020 Working Bee In 2020 the working bee will be from Monday the 18th May to Tuesday the 26th May. Once again we will be based at Dalhousie Springs and whilst we have jobs left over from the washed out 2019 working bee there are other projects in the planning stage that we will let you know about later.

15.01.2022 Due to COVID19 our Annual General Meeting scheduled for March this year had to be cancelled at short notice. Restrictions are being eased but we are waiting a little longer until we can be confident that our members will feel comfortable to attend the re-scheduled AGM at the Maylands Hotel. We will advise you of when this can happen in due course.

14.01.2022 10 Vehicles are heading to the 2019 Working Bee and will be based at Dalhousie Springs for 10 days from Sunday 19th May. We are always looking for new members for future annual working bees and more information regarding our group can be found at www.friendsofthesimpsondesert.com.au

06.01.2022 NEWS FLASH - Pearl found in Dalhousie Springs After recent rain mid May 2019, a young boy swimming near the steps into the thermal pool at Dalhousie Springs found a perfect pearl. Visitors may have noted old mussel shells about this location but never before has there been a record of a pearl being found! The real story is that a lovely lady and her husband were stranded at Dalhousie Springs due to road closures following local heavy rain. They went for a swim, as one should ...when stranded at this idyllic location, but unfortunately one of her precious earings was dislodged and fell to the bottom of the spring near the steps into the water. The water there is over 2 metres deep and the bottom is covered in plant material so all appeared to be doom and gloom! A family with a young boy "fish" (about 12 yo) undertook to do a search. After a few dives he proudly rose to the surface with the lost pearl earing. The owner was overjoyed and most appreciative to have a matching pair again. The boy "fish" was rewarded with chocolate and some holiday money for his sterling effort. Reporter: Lynton Huxley
