21.01.2022 We just got a fantastic donation from Specsavers of over $2,200, a huge thank you to them for their support. Please support them as they are supporting us. We would like to put the money towards a coffee machine to do vocational barista training. If anyone is interested in participating in the program please let me know so we can gauge the interest. It will be run in the hills area. You can contact us via email on [email protected] or on 9440 6800

15.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Can't believe school holiday's are coming up again. Our farm day program will be running again on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Great for young children to teenagers (we have a nice little group of teenagers interested). Ring Red on 0417 180 128 for further details and bookings. Pick up and drop off will be at one central point. We look forward to seeing old and new faces in July. Stay tuned as we are developing new programs and changing our name very shortly. Thanks for everyone's support and understand during what has been a difficult time but we are looking forward to moving in new directions. With gratitude Dee

10.01.2022 We have an exciting new school holiday program for teenagers living with a disability. We have connected with the students of Holy Cross in Ellenbrook and will be doing a Buddy System over January for friendship and social skills as part of our school holiday program. We will offer gaming, film making, music and working on a hobby farm in Gidgegannup. It will be lots of fun and a chance for your teen to socialise and try something different in a supportive environment. If you are interested please call Dee on 0466 675 750. We will be having an information session on Thursday 10th November from 3.30 to 4.30pm (your kids are welcome).

07.01.2022 Furry friends help twins connect Twins Harry and Isaac Armstrong are learning how to connect with others through interacting with their furry friends. Visits to Red Berson’s Gidgegannup farm have helped the autistic pair develop their social skills. Mr Berson, a former school principal, volunteers for non-for-profit group Friends of Autism. He and fellow teacher Russell Pratten recently started a school holiday program where children with learning disabilities can engage with... a menagerie of pets. We’ve got alpacas, miniature horses, miniature goats, ducks, geese, chickens, dogs and a miniature cow, he said. The kids love pottering around, washing and grooming the horses and feeding the animals. We want to provide a social experience for the kids rather than a therapy-based program. Harry and Isaac’s older sister Grace, 13, was thrilled with the progress her 10-year-old brothers made at Mr Berson’s property. They have learnt about responsibility, through taking care of the animals, she said. It has also given them more social skills. Mr Berson’s close friendship with Friends of Autism founder Dee Marlow encouraged him to volunteer for the group. Friends of Autism relies heavily on volunteers and on fundraising to keep running. The organisation is a beneficiary of United Way’s Five Cents for Five Senses campaign. The campaign encourages people to donate their unwanted five cent coins to assist five senses related charities.
