25.01.2022 Along time ago, on a misty day last week, the team ventured out to attack the great Broom Wall of Mount Lofty. The pictures tell the story (thanks to Connie for these lovely pictures)
18.01.2022 In lockdown again, but you don't have to give up on your nature fix! Explore your backyard with iNaturalist! https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=6899
18.01.2022 Returned today to the Steub Trail at Mt Lofty Summit to continue our work around recent new plantings....weeding, removing surrounds where plants have not taken-off or have outgrown their temporary home...preparing the ground for National Tree Planting Day (Sunday August 1st) when we will have new seedlings to plant into this space and others nearby.... Once again we were greeted with a lovely sunny Autumn morning, working around beautiful bushland including views of the city below......topped-off with coffee at the Summit Cafe.....
17.01.2022 Another bandicoot sighting, earlier this month, from Serge, our best bandicoot spotter - this time between First and Second Falls in Waterfall Gully. It's a pleasure to see these nationally endangered little creatures -usually too fast to see, much less get a photo!
16.01.2022 Last Friday we were at Mt Lofty Summit helping to encourage and maintain recent plantings and continuing our efforts to remove large infestations of the weed Broom which, if not removed will take over large areas and effectively prevent native species of plants from flourishing.....hopefully you can see in the photos below the big difference a few of us can make chipping away for a couple of hours to really open up the land to otherwise suffocated native plants...
16.01.2022 The City Nature Challenge is only 20 days away! Participate in this bioblitz to find out more about what's in your favourite park - which is, without a doubt, CLELAND CONSERVATION PARK!
14.01.2022 Friday's visit involved tackling the largest Arundo just below 2nd Falls, Waterfall Gully. We also discovered some new weeds, a great tip for tackling blackberry and a bonus from our cameras on the Carro Track!
13.01.2022 We also took note of other aspects of the Summit including the fire tower and acknowledgement of the traditional owners of the land (see attached photos).....also the great Summit Cafe for a coffee after our morning's work....
10.01.2022 Last Friday's visit was between First and Second Falls, Waterfall Gully. We had a successful day clearing up around all of our three recent plantings and along the side of the track, around plantings undertaken two years ago. Our little icon - the resident Bandicoot, made a very brief appearance too! We managed to get almost a full session in before the rain started and coffee at Utopia was very welcome!
02.01.2022 Last Friday we ventured to the top of Mount Lofty and after our coffee when heading back to the car we spotted this friendly little Bandicoot, he/she was rustling in the bushes and came out within a meter of where we were standing and then innocently just trotted down the road!
