24.01.2022 The wildflowers and flowering grasses looked beautiful at Glenfern yesterday. As I wandered through the bush removing weeds I was distracted by all the natural activity and growth. It was so rewarding to see that our years of weeding effort have encouraged recruitment of all these native plants.

24.01.2022 Our Bushland Restoration morning for April 2021 will be held this coming Sunday April 18th, 9:30am - 12:30pm. We meet at the central car park and will work in area 13, around the ponds and the amphitheatre. If you have an hour to spare, that would make a real difference to our bushland - every little bit helps. Hand sanitiser and tools are provided, and we'll show you what to do - no experience needed. ... Please bring gloves, long pants, sturdy shoes, drinking water. Do carry your mobile at all times for your own safety. Happily we can now provide you with morning tea again, after all this time! So, no need to bring your own. Morning tea will be at 11am, and there will be an informative talk about a plant or animal in the reserve. We hope you can join in this Sunday. In the event of rain or Total Fire Ban the working bee will have to be cancelled, and we'll send out an email and update the Facebook page.

21.01.2022 New plantings in Glenfern. Covid-19 restrictions has held up our tree planting program this season. We have had 150 seedlings in limbo as volunteering is not a permitted activity during Stage Four lock-down. Council have very generously stepped in to help us. Many thanks to Steve Feather and his team the 150 plants are in the ground. They are located in the area cleared of pittosporum earlier this year - west (high side) of Wallaby Walk. Thank you Yarra Ranges Council for getting the plants in. Our bush regeneration is a live and well!

21.01.2022 The new Yarra Ranges Plant Directory is here and it has been worth the wait. Easy to use with great photos and descriptions, what grows in your area or EVC, an amazing search feature (one of the things you can search by is flower colour) and much more. www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/PlantDirectory/Home

18.01.2022 Sugar Gliders in rosela boxes We checked some of the Glenfern nest boxes today. We were a little suprised to find sugar gliders have moved into two rosela boxes. Clip of sugar glider colony snoozing through a gloomy Sunday afternoon. Video taken with a pole camera - without too much disturance to the colony.

18.01.2022 It was so good to get to Glenfern and do some work with friends. Our team did so much in a morning - spreading mulch, weeding and landscaping with logs. The quarry area is looking very spiffy! Thanks everyone for your help as well as the delicious morning tea.

18.01.2022 Snap of some of the volunteers in Glenfern today. We worked in areas 10 and 11, with main task of getting rid of boneseed and pittos. Great to see see our volunteers today - it has been a challenging year as the Covid 19 restrictions made us cancel most of our working bees. Many thanks to the willing Glenfern friends who helped out.

14.01.2022 My twilight walk through the Bushlands was just what I needed to refresh myself. It looked beautiful and I noticed that the wildflowers are starting to come out. The Wonga Vine is flowering well and the delicate blue Love Creeper is appearing.
