25.01.2022 This is why Israel is such a special place ....

25.01.2022 Operation Finale: The Capture of Adolf Eichmann with Lt. Col. Avner Avraham.

23.01.2022 From The Australian, by Paul Garvey: The Liberal Party will debate whether to formally disavow any push to unilaterally recognise a Palestinian state at its upcoming Federal Council in Canberra next month. A set of four policy motions unanimously approved by the party’s WA division earlier this month and obtained by The Australian included a proposal for the party to formally distance itself from Labor’s recently adopted position on the Middle East.... The move comes just weeks after Labor voted for the first time to recognise the state of Palestine in its national platform, despite strong opposition from sections of the party’s Right faction. The Liberal Party policy motion calls on the federal government to continue to support peace initiatives between Israel and the Palestinian leadership through the path of negotiations and diplomacy and to disavow any push towards the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Should the motion win support at the council, it will leave the two major Australian parties holding deeply different views on an issue that carries significant weight in the eyes of the Jewish community. The Executive Council of Australian Jewry had previously slammed Labor over its support for an amendment, with the group describing Labor’s move as an outdated, one-sided approach that is at odds with Israel’s recent normalisation of relations with Arab states. The council’s co-chief executive, Alex Ryvchin, on Sunday welcomed the Liberals’ proposed motion. This is a sensible policy position that affirms that the path to conflict resolution lies in negotiations between the parties and not in entertaining legal fictions of Palestinian statehood, Mr Ryvchin told The Australian. The policy affirms the government’s proud record of support for the democratic homeland of the Jewish people and privileges truth and reason over gesture politics and misguided symbolism. We also commend the government and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for their laudable efforts to deepen relations with Israel and to draw on the marvel of Israeli technology and innovation for the benefit of Australian industry and society. Labor’s amendment for the next Labor government to recognise Palestine as a state was moved by opposition foreign affairs spokeswoman Penny Wong, who said both Israelis and Palestinians deserved to prosper in peace behind secure, recognised borders. But the move drew added controversy when former federal Labor MP Michael Danby, an influential pro-Israel voice within Labor, was barred from speaking on the proposed resolution. Mr Danby later labelled the support for Palestine as bizarre and accused the party of using Stalinist methods to suppress debate. The Australia Palestine Advocacy Network was contacted for comment. https://www.theaustralian.com.au//ca7376b27ce0f4dc37fde05e

04.01.2022 From a report about the Melissa Parke case from the May edition of the Australia/Israel Review: On April 14, Jewish communal news website J-Wire correctly repor...ted that former Labor MP Melissa Parke had withdrawn her defamation case against Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council Executive Director Dr. Colin Rubenstein in a settlement in which Rubenstein issued a statement expressing ‘regret’ that his comments caused Parke ‘distress’. The J-Wire story said Rubenstein’s statement did not apologise for any of the claims Rubenstein made in April 2019 criticising a controversial speech Parke had made to the WA Labor Friends of Palestine on March 4, 2019. Instead, Rubenstein’s statement said his criticisms ‘were intended to address the accuracy and implications of the statements and claims Ms. Parke had made’ and were not directed at Parke ‘personally’. On April 14, the Australian website amended an earlier print report published that day by deleting an incorrect claim that Parke had won a retraction and apology from Dr. Rubenstein. The updated report correctly stated that Parke has now negotiated a settlement with Dr Rubenstein, but incorrectly claimed he had expressed ‘regret’ for making claims of anti-Semitism. In fact, Rubenstein’s statement had clarified that his comments...did not intend to convey Parke was an antisemite and without conceding that my comments carried the meanings which Ms. Parke claims, expressed regret that my comments caused her distress.
