24.01.2022 Drowning is a one of the leading causes of unintentional death for Australian children. Statistics from Australia’s National Drowning Report by the Royal Life Saving Society of Australia shows that in 2017/2018: Children 0-4 years 18 CHILDREN DROWNED. ... Drownings in swimming pools accounted for 67% of these deaths. 20 seconds and only a few centimetres of water is all it takes for a child to drown. More than 30,000 km of beach surrounds mainland Australia and that’s not including the 17,000km+ that surrounds our off-shore islands. This amounts to 10,685 named significant beaches! So teaching your child from an early age to swim, is vitally important in water safety. Not only do swimming lessons teach valuable life saving skills, it also helps your child to socialise, exercise, strengthen their muscles, increase cardio and promotes endorphins, which helps with feeling happier, healthier and less stressed. #FriendsofJedda

20.01.2022 At Friends of Jedda, when we send to our very remote locations, surrounded by the red dirt of the outback, we try to limit the amount of white clothing we send. Instead, we send lots of bright colourful clothes to our desert babies. This 10kg box is off to our new friends in Ramingining in the NT, via the Bula’Bula Arts Centre . Bula'bula Arts Aboriginal Corporation Bula’bula Arts Aboriginal Corporation ‘the cultural heart of Ramingining community’, is situated in the remot...e community of Ramingining in North East Arnhem Land, surrounded by the Arafura wetlands. Bula’bula Arts is an Aboriginal owned and governed, not for profit organisation with its core objective being to preserve and foster Yolngu culture. The Yolngu (people) of Ramingining and surrounding outstations have a compelling material culture producing works of deep ritual and spiritual significance. #FriendsOfJedda #MumshelpingMums #PayingItForward #CleanOutYourCupboard #BeingKindIsFree #BeKind

17.01.2022 The Aunties of Ramingining Aboriginal communities are hierarchical structures. Elders can hold a lot of power. Elders are usually addressed with "uncle" or "aunty" which in this context are terms of respect. They are used for people held in esteem, generally older people who have earned that respect. ... At many activities and events the protocol is "elders first". This custom has its origins in traditional culture where elders were the first to receive the best bits of food. Then and now it's a gesture of respect for the knowledge and wisdom holders of the community. In these pictures the Aunties of Ramingining are inspecting the baby clothes Friends of Jedda recently sent their community, which took just over 3 weeks to arrive Thank you to the lovely Sally Annaliese for the pictures. #friendsofjedda Explanation source: Creative Spirits

16.01.2022 Our CEO, Jedda, knows that reading is vital for developing literacy, a good vocabulary and a vivid imagination. But with increasingly interactive electronic books that enable independent reading from a younger age, we may be losing sight of the value of reading not only with, but also to, our kids. What are some of the benefits of reading to children?... 1) Bonding. Reading provides a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to connect. 2) Listening skills. 3) Cognitive and language development. 4) Expanded vocabulary. 5 Assists with better attention span. 6) Creativity. 7) Social and emotional development. #friendsofjedda See more

13.01.2022 Interview with the CEO Jedda, after collecting good quality baby clothes, sizes 00000-1, what do you do then?? In QLD, my Mum and Dad immediately sort the clothes for quality assurance. Approximately a quarter of the items we receive are not able to be sent due to their condition ... We then seperate the clothes into sizes and then wash the clothes in size bundles with a hypo-allergenic wash. Once dried, we then re-check quality, flat fold and either package up or store in size appropriate containers and then redistribute to our new friends in rural, remote and isolated areas. Our other states like WA where Aunty Dion is, or Victoria where Aunty Sian is, might do things slightly differently, but all with the same outcome, that is, to help bring a smile to the faces of new mums. Please DM us if you have any good quality baby clothes for collection. #FriendsOfJedda #MumshelpingMums #PayingItForward #CleanOutYourCupboard #BeingKindIsFree #BeKind

I'm sure you agree! 1. Babies are born to groove! Talk about tiny dancers. Studies have proven that babies are born with an innate sense of rhythm.
