21.01.2022 On Sunday Indian Prime Minister Modi asked India's 1.3 billion people to stay home and collectively cheer for front-line healthcare workers at 5pm local time. Shortly before 5pm, the cacophony in the capital New Delhi began as people on balconies and rooftops clapped, rang bells, banged on pots and pans, played music recordings and set off fireworks. At Mithra they did the same and today the school has shut its doors but continues to maintain the care of many children who are still at Mithra. The only staff present are Sisters Brigit, Jacqueline and Siji and the cook in the kitchen. The daily care givers are also remaining, but are concerned for their health and safety.

19.01.2022 Thomas Perissinotto, College Captain, Ambrose Treacy College, Brisbane has been a very active fundraiser for Friends of Mithra. Tom travelled with a group of ATC students and staff, to India as part of their Immersion Program. 17.01.2022 A few years back we held an afternoon tea where people could donate any unwanted gold jewellery. The gold was then processed and the proceeds generated helped enormously to fund the ongoing work at Mithra. We wanted to let you know that when the time is right we plan to hold another "Hearts of Gold" fundraiser. In the meantime if you could put aside any unwanted gold pieces we would appreciate that very much. 15.01.2022 It was a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon when we gathered at Ingrid and Andy’s apartment in Brisbane. This was the second time they had opened their place and welcomed about 80 friends and family to raise money for Mithra. While enjoying champagne and amazing food from Hawthorne Garage, guests were able to purchase some beautiful items handmade by the kids at Mithra. There were greeting cards with patterns sewn in silk thread, table cloths, wine bags and gift bags with bloc...k print designs and tablecloths hand-stitched with hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds. Guests watched a moving video showing Mithra and its students and heard from Paul Flanders, principal of the Edmund Rice Flexible Schools who has recently returned from a trip to India with 8 students and 4 teachers. He spoke emotionally about the lives of the students on the trip and the personal struggles they put aside to travel to Mithra and experience its magic. Three boys from St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace also spoke about their recent experience in Mithra. All were moved by the teachers and sisters and the hard work and commitment they show every day to care for and teach the special students at Mithra. By the end of the afternoon, all merchandise had been sold and many generous donations had been given. We thank everyone for their attendance and interest in helping Friends of Mithra continue to support the work of Sister Mary Theodore. See more

04.01.2022 Check out this wonderful project that Year 9 student Rose has started to raise funds for Mithra! Thank you so much Rose, your dog treats look amazing! She says: "My name is Rose and I’m in year 9 in Adelaide. Every year 9 student has to do a community project in terms 3 and 4, and I found out about Friends of Mithra last year from one of my dads school teachers, Brother Robert Callen. When I looked it up on the internet, I was touched by the videos, and wanted to help out.... So for this years project the first thing I thought of was doing something for Friends of Mithra. I also love dogs and animals so thought I would do something involving animals as well. I decided to make dog treats to sell at cafes and vets, and I plan to make and sell scrunchies at school as well. I’m not sure how much money I will raise, but I will do my best to help with buildings." See more
