19.01.2022 Constancio joined us from the Timor- Leste’s teacher exchange program where we provided English language tuition, and shared Australian teaching methodologies. His visit included highlights like meeting the teachers and students at Castle Cove Public School & Willoughby Girls High School, discussions with Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney, a trip to UNSW and tours of our beautiful environment like the Manly headland and Centennial Park. We were also fortunate to share the local Fauna Fair with Constancio, where the Friends of Ossu took the opportunity to share the message of our work together in Timor Leste, and gather support. You can always head to our website to donate, or send us a message.

14.01.2022 Clean-burning Cookstoves In Timor-Leste women and children are mostly responsible for cooking and collecting firewood. People cook over open fires, and the smoke causes major health problems particularly for women and young children diseases of the lungs and neurological problems. Theres a very good solution: clean-burning cookstoves. Take a look at this video produced by Friends of Ossu member Ollie Howes and wife Pat explaining the importance of clean-burning cookstoves.... https://www.youtube.com/watch https://www.friendsofossu.org.au/about-willoughby-friends-/ #WFOO #ossu #friendsofossu #cleanburningcookstoves

14.01.2022 The Willoughby-Ossu Teacher Exchange Project is one of the many projects we're hoping to continue this year thanks to your support. 07.01.2022 Steve is a Willoughby Friends of Ossu English teacher with a love of music. This clip is of secondary school students at Canossa Colege (Escola Secondaria Santa Madelena de Canossa) singing I am a Child Of Timor (Ha'u Timor Oan). Steve uses music as a means to teach the kids English, finding suitable songs that help provide an understanding of grammatical concepts. His trip has been made possible, partly by Clubs Grant Willoughby as well as funds raised by the Friends. We have also recently brought a teacher from Ossu, East Timor to Sydney. Enjoy!

05.01.2022 Rosemary Bekker, Luke Keighery, Matthew Keighery and Ollie were lucky enough yesterday to talk to Year 10 students at Willoughby Girls High School about their recent trip to Ossu. These students are currently studying East Timor in class and enjoyed the opportunity to hear about life and the programs were delivering in Ossu. This visit builds on the existing relationship developed through the Willoughby-Ossu Teacher Exchange Program. Last year Naha Siba Ruas visited WGH thanks to a grant from Chatswood RSL and were hoping to continue this program again this year. #friendsofossu #WFOO #timorleste #ossu #willoughbygirlshigh #teacherexchange
