17.01.2022 Our beautiful Adelaide Hills communities are facing incredible heartache at the moment. We've established the Cudlee Creek Fire Appeal to help people in need. ...It will build on other community support measures such as emergency grants and the Local Recovery Coordinator which are now up and running. Every little bit helps - no matter how big or small. The fund will be distributed to the families and businesses who have lost their homes and livelihoods in the wake of the tragic fires.

16.01.2022 National Tree Day is a call-to-action for the Holdfast Bay community to come together, connect with nature and give back to the natural world. Come and get some fresh air and exercise, enjoy the sound of the waves and the birds, and learn about our native dune plants.

15.01.2022 Hi neighbours, Is there any ongoing project to establish veggie beds or butterfly garden in the boundaries of the house that you know of? What do you think about this idea and how do you suggest it could be executed.

14.01.2022 Who would be interested in doing this ?

12.01.2022 We have a firebug/s in our community and I’m really worried about what this could lead to. In the last few weeks fires have been lit in: Marino Conservation ...Park Capella Reserve, Hallett Cove Glenthorne National Park (behind Seaview Downs) We’ve been extremely lucky that none of these fires have impacted private property and all were able to be gotten under control relatively quickly. However, we may not be so fortunate next time. If you see any suspicious activity near areas of open space, particularly on these upcoming fire danger days, please contact SAPOL immediately on: 131 444.

11.01.2022 Some one very wise sahred this with me. One of the most reliable indicators of a friendship’s longevity is something I call Imperfection Tolerance. That is, the friendships that are the most likely to last have an expansive and compassionate tolerance for each other’s imperfections. Instead of turning away from one another because they are imperfect, they turn toward one another. Instead of shunning each other, they accept each other- warts and all. Quite often, friendship...s fall apart because there is an inequality in their Imperfection Tolerance. I have seen this time and time again. One person has no tolerance for their friend’s imperfect patterns, while simultaneously expecting all of theirs to be fully embraced. A sense of inequality sets in, as one friend feels entitled to complete acceptance, while never letting their friend off the hook. Better to identify these patterns early- it will save you lots of time, and disappointment. Equality of compassion is the root of most long lasting friendships. - Jeff Brown

06.01.2022 I’m pleased to share with you the gullies master plans. They are finally open for public consultation. You can download them from the site below, and there is a feedback form to which you can click through from this page. The consultation period is open until Wednesday 5th May, 5 pm.... You might also be interested to know that the environmental team in the council are in the process of getting some biodiversity plans developed for all three gullies. 06.01.2022 A reminder from Alex (Team Leader Environment & Coast @City of Holdfast Bay) Don't forget that next week is Backyard Bird Count week! https://aussiebirdcount.org.au/ 20 minutes observation wherever you are is enough, and as many times as you want during the week - we get the data for Holdfast Bay so please go mad!

05.01.2022 Very Sad News Sadly, We have just been informed by Alex (Team Leader Environment & Coast) that someone has illegally removed a lot of the mistletoe from some of the trees in Pine Gully. Apparently, there are now only two clumps left!... Please be aware that mistletoes are a keystone species in healthy habitats and the council was using the seeds from these bushes to attempt propagation on some street trees as an experiment. Mistletoes are important and must remain in place. Please, if anyone saw or knows who did this, I would appreciate knowing because this is an illegal activity and the offender can be prosecuted. Jan (memebr of FoPG) added We did have mistletoe birds in the Gully. Beautiful coloured little birds. Let’s hope the damage hasn’t frightened them away. looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday @ 9:30 am

05.01.2022 Good morning neighbours, Our usual working bees are back to the first Sunday of the month at 9:30 for one or two hours. However, we have some urgent work in the gully to do tomorrow Sunday 20 of June 9:30 am. Urgent work We will need a few strong people who would be able to push a wheelbarrow on the slop. We have a pile of stones to move from the top of the slope to the area along the path.I will bring two wheelbarrows and two shovels. The plan is to do up to 4 trips each an...d call it off. Some other work If you want to join us for some light work, there is a lot of halo weeding on the site. I hope you have seen the progress done on the slips of the gully by now. We have 500 plants put by the council on the northern sides along and along with steps. They will need to put sticks on them in the future so we can keep weeding around them and water them. On Wednesday we planted another 100 plants in a joint working bee with the council. We will need to add a few extra green guards. Please, if you have some, bring them with you. Socialising after the working beeSpare an hour or two after the working bee for a Cuppa and catching up. See more
