25.01.2022 The community has spoken! You have overwhelmingly voted for this sign. Thank you to everyone who voted. The Friends of Port Moorowie committee appreciates your input. Watch out for the sign, coming soon to Port Moorowie

24.01.2022 Important notice to members of Port Moorowie community: In January and February, as part of the Yorke Peninsula Council provided two new wheelie bins (one red-lidded waste bin and one yellow-lidded recycling bin)to all eligible properties within the Council area. These new bins replaced the old bins at each property, HOWEVER, It appears that some residents have continued to use their old bins.... The Yorke Peninsula Council has recently instructed SUEZ, its kerbside waste management contractor, to cease servicing all old bins; therefore, residents must ensure they are only using their new bins from now on, as any old bins placed out for collection will not be serviced.

23.01.2022 Many thanks to the volunteers and firefighters for all your efforts keeping the community and assets safe. Your bravery and efforts are appreciated by the Yorkes community. Stay safe.

21.01.2022 Marna Bungarra.....So exciting that this is happening in our backyard! The predator fence can be seen near Sturt Bay Rd. Hope the little critters can re-establish in their native habitat. What an awesome experience for future generations to be able to go for a walk in the bush and see them rather than in a zoo! Northern and Yorke Landscape Board

16.01.2022 Goodbye Boxthorn, Onion weed, Lincoln weed and runaway Gazanias. This week you may notice weed control contractors engaged to undertake the control of these weeds along the coastal strip. With thanks to the Bite Sized Grant funding received from the Northern and Yorke Landscape Board the Friends of Port Moorowie will contribute further funding to manage the weeds in our town.... All property owners can do their part by actively controlling these weeds on their properties. For further information on how to control Boxthorn please contact the Northern and Yorke Landscape Office 88413400

If you have any historical photos of Port Moorowie that you would like to contribute for consideration particularly of Mt Melville School, the Post Office & the Store that would be appreciated. All photos used will be acknowledged on the signs. Either add to this post or PM to discuss further.... Thanks in anticipation from the FOPM committee.

06.01.2022 [ MISTAKEN IDENTITY ] Please help us avoid an outbreak of a highly invasive aquatic weed on Yorke Peninsula. Known as Salvinia, it was accidentally sold (or giv...en away) during the past three months at Ardrossan's True Value Hardware. It's regarded as one of the worst weeds in Australia and could threaten the state's primary industries and natural environments. The free-floating fern can double in size in a couple of days forming a thick mass of vegetation and is known to restrict stock access to watering sites, provide favourable conditions for disease-carrying insects, as well as affect aquatic habitat for birds and fish. If you think you purchased Salvinia from True Value Hardware in Ardrossan, please contact us at Minlaton on 8853 3880 or Clare on 8841 3400 during office hours for advice regarding destroying the plant and decontaminating your pond or tank. Many thanks to Shane from True Value Hardware for his support in rectifying this situation. He will reimburse customers who purchased the product. . . .
