24.01.2022 Culture em identity, lusim coal lo graun! Culture is identity, leave coal in the ground! Australian mining company Mayur Resources is proposing to build a 52MW ...coal-fired power station in Lae, PNG’s second biggest city. If built this will become the first coal-fired power plant in the Pacific opening up the region to coal extraction at a time when scientists are telling us we need to do everything we can to move away from fossil fuels and stay within the 1.5-degree temperature goal that is essential for the Pacific to survive. With the support of our 350 PNG team in Lae, our friends at @jublieeaustralia and @CELCOR have released this report examining the arguments for the Lae power plant and the coal mine(s) in the PNG Gulf Province. We urge you to have a read of the report and share the report here: https://nogatcoal.org/ #nocoalinPNG #anticoal #mayurresources #nogatcoal #png #notocoal
23.01.2022 Domesticated dogs hunt & menace for sport. Dingoes hunt and kill only for food. Dingoes are a family unit, dogs are a pack. Dingoes have small litters once per year. Dogs two large litters per year. Dingoes are a native species. Dogs are introduced.
22.01.2022 "Warning disturbing image" Another unfortunate casualty on our roads this afternoon. This young male Cassowary suffered horrific injuries and had to be euthanise...d at the scene by authorities. The incident occurred at approximately 3pm just south and opposite of post marker 81 Tully Mission Beach Rd. The driver of the vehicle did not report the incident and as we have created a situation in our community that people fear retribution for reporting such events, the lack of data received by the department is not helping to reduce any know factors that could be addressed. Did you know? Mission Beach Wildcare has attended many Cassowary incidents in its existence and have consoled many people after such an accident and have never revealed names of people involved. The Department of Environment and Science would never publicly disclose the name of a person involved , Vets, Wildlife carers, Police , nor any other caring professional. If persons involved with wildlife incidents especially Cassowaries, can report on the circumstances we all would have a better chance of implementing appropriate measures to ensure the future of our treasured wildlife! All Cassowary and crocodile incidents please phone 1300130372. All other wildlife please call 0439687272 save these numbers.

18.01.2022 All Australian's should be disgusted that this Government does not hold dear and value First Nations cultural heritage and has nothing in law to protected spiritual & cultural sites from destruction. History will tell the tale of how strongly we stand with our First Nation people to help them fight this gross injustice.
17.01.2022 Do you have a feral pig problem? Or a roaming pig dog problem that could lead to a dangerous feral pest within our Wet Tropics Bioregion? Now is a great time to contact QLD Department of Agriculture & Fisheries Biosecurity & tell them your concerns about the damage feral pigs are doing to the understory and the secondary problem created by the illegal hunting with pig dogs within the rainforest. It is well researched that using dogs (in rainforest) to hunt pigs spread the ...pigs across the landscape also hunters generally only target the boars for trophies, this does not lead to effective reduction of pigs and the extensive pig problem. Trapping large numbers of pigs is a slow planned intentional project by multiple parties. By working with landholders and different agencies QPWS can capture and humanely dispose of up to 200 pigs in a single operation. When hunters enter the picture the operation is fouled. Trapping is proven to be much more effective. See more

10.01.2022 This little fella is a survivor of 1080 poison, to say he is lucky is well beyond an understatement. His mother and siblings will have died a horrifically painf...ul death that would have lasted hours. Emaciated and with organ troubles this little guy is the face for 1080 poison, he is a regular dingo, but take a good look at the toll this poison has had upon his growth and his little body. The dingo is this lands native apex predator. This is how we are treating them in 2020, they are listed as pests in every mainland state on private land and in most states are still targeted (directly) through trapping and 1080 poison campaigns inside public lands (National and State Parks) and (indirectly) through baiting of introduced animals such as foxes (one fox bait will kill a dingo of any size) and pigs/rabbits (secondary poisoning when a dingo eats the carcass of those animals, 1080 can remain in the carcass for over 75 days). Using such a volatile and heinously cruel poison as a wildlife 'management' tool in the year 2020, when we are aware of the torturous death it causes, is totally unacceptable. Our dingoes deserve better. See more
07.01.2022 Microchipping laws for the sale of cats and dogs In Queensland all cats and dogs between 8 and 12 weeks of age must be implanted with a microchip. Responsibility for microchipping is with the person selling or giving away the animal. The sale, implanting and tracking of microchips is regulated in Queensland. Only an authorised person may microchip a cat or dog.... This guide provides information about how to apply to become an authorised microchip implanter, the laws around implanting microchips and microchip registry services.
05.01.2022 It beyond belief that this moronic Government thinks 850 gas wells is "a OK" after the recent bushfire season the world just witnessed and our community just traumatically experienced. Not the mention the extensive water usage and pollution into our waterways across our agricultural land. I remember when I was about 13 reading a American Indian poster that finished by saying "you can't eat money."

03.01.2022 Irresponsible dog owners have historically and continue to create the feral / hybridised dog problem at the expense of our native top predator the dingo. Ask local Councils to tighten control of roaming domesticated dogs, do regular audits for compliance of the Animal Management Act and irresponsible dog owners should be heavily fined.
