16.01.2022 We have a fantastic opportunity to complete the southern end of the GreenWay thanks to an Inner West council staff proposal to increase publicly-accessible open space along the Cooks River. But for the staff recommendation to be adopted by the elected council, we need your support. This proposal will turn current poorly-utilised golf course land into wetlands and parklands, while at the same time naturalise the river banks, provide new riverside cycling and walking paths and improve the Wardell Rd bridge crossing. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. The Friends of the GreenWay urge everyone to vote for Option B in the Marrickville Parklands Plan of Management before 17 June. https://yoursay.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/marrickville-golf-cour

08.01.2022 Have your say in the Inner West Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement which includes the GreenWay, commitment to increase cycling and walking and also identifies the bandicoot protection area. The Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) will guide land use in the Inner West over the next 20 years! Public exhibition closes Sunday 27 October 2019. https://yoursay.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/our-place-inner-west

07.01.2022 Come and learn about the history of the Cooks River on 7 November 1-2pm at History House, 133 Macquarie St, Sydney CBD. Development impacted the health of the river. Much of the Cooks River has been rehabilitated in recent decades by passionate local groups and through government initiatives. Now it faces the challenges of rapid apartment development. River Dreams is a timely reminder of the need to tread cautiously in seeking to dominate, or ignore, our environment. https://www.rahs.org.au/event/day-lecture-river-dreams/
