22.01.2022 MARNIE Gender: Female Age: 9 years 3 months. Colour: White and Black... Location: Newcastle, NSW Cat Friendly: Not tested Miss Marnie is a gorgeous old lady. She loves cuddles, ear scritches and being close to her humans. Her foster carer says it has been a delight watching her discover toys and how to play with them. She is happiest snuggled in her bed with her squeaky dinosaur. She loves going out for a walk or an adventure to the park. Marnie is learning to walk gently on the lead but still pulls a little. She loves kids but does get excited when playing and might accidentally knock over small kids so may be best with slightly older ones.

21.01.2022 PARIS Gender: Female Age: 1 year 10 months. Colour: Black and White... Location: Newcastle, NSW Cat Friendly: Yes * Special needs * More Info: Paris came into the care of Friends of the Hound in July this year. She had sustained a nasty injury of fractured toes in her left front paw due to a trialling accident. Paris underwent surgery to place an external fixature on her paw to try and align the tiny fractured bones in her toes allowing them to begin to heal. She had many bandage changes and xrays during her recovery and has taken it all in her stride. Paris, who is petite in size, is an outgoing and bouncy young girl. She has a bright and bubbly, infectious nature and is loved by all who meet her. She loves the company of her other greyhound housemates and is cat tolerant, although she can be a little cheeky with them at times. She would do well in a home with another dog for company. Paris travels well in the car, walks nicely on the lead and loves to head out and about to socialise. At this stage walking time for Paris is limited due to her foot injury. Her Vet would like to continue to monitor her progress and assess her mobility with the likelyhood of further treatment in the near future. So at this point in time, Paris will need to find her forever home in the Newcastle/Hunter region.

18.01.2022 HANSI Gender: Female Age: 5 years 3 months. Colour: Black... Location: Brisbane, QLD Cat Friendly: No Hi, my name is Hansi, or sometimes my foster Mum calls me Hansi-pants! I am a 5 year old little black girl who just loves to play with toys. I am such a good catcher, I throw my toys in the air, catch them and then do it all again (I am pretty smart!). I just love my foster sisters but love my foster brothers even more, I couldn’t imagine life without the company of another houndie. I love my food and I am keen for meal-times but am really polite when my foster mum tells me to wait until it is ready. I have pannus (an eye condition) but all that needs is a few drops a day to keep my eyesight in tip-top shape. I love my foster family and my teeth chatter with excitement and love when they are around. I would love to be the hound to complete your family but have to confess that I don’t really like small fluffy dogs and am best kept away from them.

17.01.2022 ALLY Gender: Female Age: 3 years 2 months. Colour: Black... Location: Ipswich Cat Friendly: No More Info: Ally is a cuddly greyhound, who would love to be your lap dog. Enthusiastic and curious, she enjoys being at the centre of attention and thrives on pats and love. Her toys are very important to her, but she also likes sticks, potplants, shoes and palm fronds. Be prepared for a very cheeky greyhound helping you in the garden! When you arrive home, Ally is an enthusiastic greeter, so would be best in homes without small chidren or frail people. She is still learning to behave so needs a patient owner that will give her plenty of attention. She is a little timid of barky dogs and sudden loud noises, so would do best in a quiet home and garden where she can relax outside with her toys. 13.01.2022 MATTHEW Gender: Male Age: 5 years 5 months. Colour: Black... Location: North Coast, NSW Cat Friendly: Not tested More Info: Matthew is looking for a family with a really comfy bed with lots of fluffy blankets just for him. His bed is his happy and safe place. Matthew prefers the quiet life so may not be suited to younger children but would love all the cuddles he would receive while watching tv with older family members. Matthew is quite content to be left alone, as long as it’s all about him on your return home and there is a work/home balance. He would prefer access to inside via a dog door or have another cosy bed set up under cover. Matty lived in the same kennel for the first five years of his life. He is adapting to pet life well and is adjusting to all the new things he is experiencing. A little timid at first, he has loved having his half sister to show him the ropes, and give him confidence. He would like a greyhound sister but not essential. He walks nicely on a lead. Matthew would love a family that would have the patience to take new experiences slowly and in return he will give you the best welcome homes and unconditional love.

08.01.2022 RUFUS Gender: Male Age: 4 years 5 months. Colour: Black... Location: Newcastle, NSW Cat Friendly: No More Info: From the very first day Rufus arrived in foster care, he showed he has true gentleman qualities. He has shown to be calm and patient with the other resident greys, from the elderly to the young and playful. Rufus has taken to his new life away from track and kennel with ease, gaining top marks in the art of couch roaching, mastering the stairs and quick evening zoomies. He loves getting out and is always super excited at walk time. After his initial burst of energy, Rufus settles and walks calmly with his mates on a lead. This cool, calm and collected lad will make a wonderful addition to a family, a couple or single person. He likes the company of other dogs but would also be fine as an only dog. Maxi is very eager to please and has a sweet and loving nature. She is good with kids and loves going for a walk. She loves to patted and brushed and has the most beautiful, shiny black coat. She’s quite lively and loves to play with her toys. Maxi’s prey drive is still quite high so she needs a safe, fenced yard and to be kept inside after dark. 01.01.2022 This is gorgeous Hugo's adoption story, enjoy! "For at least a year before we put in an application to adopt a greyhound from Friends of the Hound, I’d carry around a FOTH pamphlet acquired from market stalls (at West End and Eumundi) in my bag and would whip it out at random so my wife Marian would get the hint. Not very subtle! Before Hugo joined our family, we already had Fynn (our 10 year old Lab-x), and two cats Maru and Bear. Finally, we felt ready to welcome another fu...rbaby and I knew in my heart it would be a greyhound. Sometimes, it is all written in the stars that was exactly how our journey to welcoming Hugo into our family was. The timing of our application, and the fact that our sweet-natured and placid Fynn passed her interview with flying colours (with Alison’s beautiful greyhound Pippen) brought us closer to adopting Hugo. What I really admire about FOTH is the effort they make in getting to know you and your family (pre-existing furbabies included), and how they match you with the perfect greyhound. When we were informed about Hugo, we said yes immediately. I didn’t care about what colour he would be, or whether his ears would stand or fold. I knew that it was meant to be and we had so much love ready for him. Hugo had a family for about half a year, prior to being with FOTH. Every part of his life matters to us, and I felt it was very important to speak with his previous Mum to let her know that we would love him with all of our hearts. She had given him so much love, and it would have been so difficult and heart-breaking for her to part with him. When I met Hugo on his Gotcha Day (8th August 2020), my heart melted into a puddle as he leaned against my leg. I thought I had so much love to give him, but I didn’t stop to think that he had a lot of love to give as well. Hugo has changed our lives in so many ways. He has settled into the family so seamlessly, and is completely adored by his big fur-sister Fynn, as well as the cats! Bear, our little cat loves going up to him to give him kisses when he sleeps. There is nothing like watching him do his daily zoomies in the backyard, and watching Fynn try to keep up with him (she can’t, really!) We adore the sweet goofball that he is, and he never fails to make us laugh when he farts while stretching. He absolutely loves his squeaky toys and is the goodest boy, so loving and so very gentle. He’s learnt quickly to walk well on the lead, and he loves car rides so much that he hops up onto the backseat all by himself now! He is the youngest baby of our family, and the largest too! Thank you so much FOTH for bringing Hugo into our lives! He is the biggest blessing ever!" With thanks to Ellie and Marian for this happy tale
