24.01.2022 The support of The Friends of the Mater has been vital to the implementation of scalp cooling in Australia, and our donors should be very proud.
22.01.2022 Woo hoo! Summer is almost here! Still confused about whether to wear SP15 or SP50? Some great info in this article quoting our friends at the Melanoma Institute, whose work we are proud to support.
20.01.2022 BK5000 - Cutting Edge Technology The Friends of the Mater have generously donated a BK5000 Intraoperative Ultrasound System valued at $241,397 to Mater Theatres. With an increased volume of cancer surgeries at the Mater, the... BK5000 will provide the surgeon with accurate diagnosis, staging and better capacity to determine the need for additional surgical intervention or ongoing medical treatment. The BK5000 will provide diagnosis in real time, and may reduce the need for further invasive surgeries and reduce the length of hospital stay for these patients. The acquisition of the BK5000 cutting edge technology will enable the delivery of ‘Gold Standard’ Patient Centred Care at the Mater See more
14.01.2022 We are so thankful to our generous donors who made it possible for us to unveil The Poche van Norton Special Care Nursery at the Mater a little over a year ago. Do you know anyone who has used the amazing facilities at the nursery?

12.01.2022 Celebrating Two Years of The Poche Van Norton Special Care Nursery In 2012 The Friends of the Mater Foundation set itself a challenge to raise funds to build a new, state-of-the art Special Car Nursery. We were passionate in our endeavour to ensure that the Mater could offer the most technologically advanced facility for its tiniest patients. Thanks to the generosity of our many donors and Mr Greg Poche AO and Ms Kay Van Norton we were able to raise $4.7 million to fund this... important project. The Special Care Nursery was completed in June 2015, and since then has had more than 700 admissions of premature and sick babies to its welcoming family centered environment. Within the privacy of single rooms, parents feel reassured that whilst their babies are receiving medical care, they too can be involved in their baby’s care. Increasingly more premature and unwell babies are being transferred from other hospitals to the Mater for continuation of their care. The Poche Van Norton Special Care Nursery has proven to be a most valuable addition to the Mater’s Maternity Services. Thank you to all our donors who contributed to this success.
