24.01.2022 Happy Father's Day (cue the Dad jokes!) Here in #Australia there are some fantastic #wildlife fathers, read more about them below 1 Emu - Dad incubates the ...egg without drinking, feeding, defecating or leaving the nest. Chicks stay with their father for around four months. 2 Giant Water Bugs - not only does the male carry all the fertilised eggs upon his back, he strokes them lovingly with his back legs to ensure a steady flow of fresh water passes over them. 3 Seahorses - after the mama seahorse deposits eggs into his pouch, it’s dad who fertilises, incubates and gives birth to their offspring. 4 Cassowary - Dad incubates and guards the eggs for 50 days, then raises the chicks solely. Tag your special Dad and share your best dad jokes with us in the comments below! What is our favourite Dad joke... What do you call a lazy baby kangaroo? 24.01.2022 [REEFBITES ALERT] 2020 has been one of the most difficult years for humanity not only because we are facing a worldwide pandemic but also because many of our UN...'s Biodiversity targets were not met. Specifically for the coral community, we are saddened that Target 10: By 2015, the multiple anthropogenic pressures on coral reefs, and other vulnerable ecosystems impacted by climate change or ocean acidification are minimized, so as to maintain their integrity and functioning, was not met in either 2015 nor 2020. Read our latest article by Carla Elliff to learn more about these targets and how we're moving forward.
