25.01.2022 It's just a week until the South Queensland Conference Big Camp begins on the 15th September (not 14th as I have on the Event). Sorry about that. Volunteers in Action will have a display in the Exhibition Hall and Neil and Samson will be there for the first half of the Camp. I may go if I'm up to it. This week we are prayerfully thinking of Terence McHugh. Terence handles the finance side of VIA as a volunteer. By that I mean he distributes the funds to the Unions and Missions and ensures the funds get to the right people and are used appropriately. He is a trained and experienced accountant. We want to affirm, encourage and thank him for his service.

25.01.2022 A group of VIAs at Mt Hagen Camp meeting last year.

24.01.2022 Some encouraging news has recently come from Pastor Lawrence Tanabose, the President of Solomon Islands Mission. He reports that in the last 14 weeks, for several reasons,1739 persons have been baptised in this mission. That's an average of about 17 persons a day for 98 days. Solomon Islands Mission has 105 employed ministers (including administrators), and 85 VIA funded Bible workers. Thirty six former VIAs are now working as pastors or administrative leaders. This news should bring encouragement to donors to this organisation, VIA.

23.01.2022 Passport in readiness, Neil is on his way for two weeks visitation in Pacific Islands. VIA pastors don't need passports to minister as they are all locals, but they do need our thoughts and prayers, working in difficult places with limited resources. I hope I can get this photo up the right way!

23.01.2022 11.7.18 Lae. Eleven of the fifteen VIAs from Morobe Mission with their bundles of resources.

22.01.2022 We thank God for safe travel this past month as Neil returned from Solomon Is, Bouganville, Vanuatu and PNG, and I returned from Perth and Hunter Valley. Emotionally it has been a really hard month for me, hence no postings on this page. The photo with a red shirt in it is a group of some 85 VIAs in the Solomon Islands. The other photo came from Honiara with the message "visiting new church plant started by VIA in blue shirt". I will try to get some more interesting stories for next Friday's post. Happy Sabbath to all.

19.01.2022 Pr Brian Je will be sadly missed for his smile, his passion and his positiveness. A wonderful man of God!.. We need to pray for Retta, Esther, Susanna, Heidi ...and other relatives of Brian asking they be held in the loving arms of God during this time. If you weren't able to attend the service in celebration of Brian’s life on Friday 23 March at the Mount Gravatt Seventh-day Adventist Church, here is a video of the Celebration of Life service.

18.01.2022 Eight of our Madang/Manus VIAs who had to walk up to 5 days to get to our meetings with 15 of the 24 VIAs in the Mission. The others were unable to attend because of transportation problems. The men pictured are seen with the books and other resources we were able to provide - including a foam rubber mat to sleep on during the long journey home.

16.01.2022 This is a group of faithful VIAs who minister in the northern region of Vanuatu. They met with Pastor Neil at Luganville, Santo, in 2019.

14.01.2022 Neil and the founder of VIA, Cliff Morgan are having lots of phone calls as they plan their field visitation in July. They are ordering resources for the pastors in remote areas which they have been told by local Co-ordinators will be most useful. Cliff is in his 80's now so we hope this trip won't be too much for him. He exercises regularly and eats well, and is quite fit, which is in his favour.

12.01.2022 As promised, an inspirational story from the latest VIA newsletter which isn't on the web site yet. by Wilfred Nangu, Sepik Mission. Story: Baimuru church pastor Cyril Kulanawi, VIA missionary Raphael Simon and local church members of the Yangoru Kubalia District of the Sepic Mission held an evangelistic meeting in mid-2017 in Hambuke village. The program resulted in three clan tribes offering a large portion of land to the Adventist Church to establish a church, a health cli...nic and a primary school. The clans' spokesperson said, "We were approached by other Sunday worship denominations to use this portion of land. We said "No, we will wait for God to bring his church here and we will give it to them. Today is the day fulfilled and we will give it to the Seventh-day Adventists". Another spokesperson said, "We need God's church's presence here. It will minimise lawlessness like home brew alcohol, gambling, womanising, sorcery, murder, etc. As we Jesus as our Saviour many unwanted problems will be reduced." Pastor Cyril Kulanawi replied, "Thank you landlords. We will return for a two week evangelistic program here and a ground breaking ceremony before the year ends." During the meetings an AOG Pastor with his wife admitted the truth and apologised for misleading their congregation. They said, "We will be baptised and join the Adventists in your next program here." May God bless one and all.

12.01.2022 New photos and stories coming next week as Neil and Cliff visit around PNG.

11.01.2022 At Big Camp Brisbane this Sabbath morning, I found VIA Regional Co-ordinator Samson with some friends. The Welcome sign was friendly at the back of the Big Tent, and at the front, the flowers were cheery.

11.01.2022 Lae, 9.7.18, Neil and Cliff visit a renewed church which has some original roofing supplied by VIA years ago.

10.01.2022 Enjoy this flashback. Dear Lyn Steel was in the nursing class I started in 1967. She and Archie were at Kambubu and Kabiufa during the years we were at Kavieng, Port Moresby and Fiji.

06.01.2022 This group of faithful Volunteers in Action Lay Pastors, who work in southern areas of Vauatu, met with Pastor Neil in Port Vila in 2019.

05.01.2022 13.7.18 Madang Manus VIAs with resources.

04.01.2022 VIA layman Robin Neyato shared this beautiful report from Homu District near Goroka in the Eastern Highlands Province of PNG. "In October 2016 I had the privilege of joining two elders, three deaconesses and six church members for a one week visit to our local prison. 139 prisoners took part in our programs where we prayed with them, shared the Bible promises, gave Bible studies and distributed literature. "On the Thursday we ran a special program that we called the "Prisone...r & Ex-Prisoner Reunion". We invited some ex-prisoners who are now serving as pastors, elders and leaders in the local mission and churches. They each testified and challenged all the prisoners to know and experience Jesus Christ. " We also launched a Christian Library in the prison. The prison camp Commander said in his speech that every other denomination that visits only stays for one day but the Seventh-day Adventists stayed for a week. "On the Sabbath six prisoners were baptised and eighteen made their stand for Jesus. Praise God." Taken from the April 2017 Newsletter which isn't on the web site yet.

02.01.2022 There were crowds of people at the Exhibition Hall this Sabbath afternoon. At the VIA booth I found Cliff and Val Morgan (Founders), Vic Trotsky (Acting CEO), Samson and Neil.
