23.01.2022 On this ANZAC Day we remember. We acknowledge the service and sacrifice of all Tasmanians in times of war conflict and peacekeeping. We think of the tragedy and sadness that comes with war. We hold dear our families and think of the suffering and loss that they had to deal with. We remember all the soldiers commemorated on the Soldiers Memorial Avenue and we acknowledge the effort their families and loved ones made to create this very special memorial.
17.01.2022 This post includes information on Guy Brooke Bailey, who is commemorated at tree #206 on Soldiers Memorial Avenue Hobart

15.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder that the Annual General Meeting of FOSMA is on this Saturday, 2pm at the Eltham Pavilion, Soldiers Memorial Oval, Queens Domain. We have a fantastic presentation by three winners of this year’s Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize - Griffin McLaughlin from Tarremah Steiner School, Jenna Stacey from Mount Carmel College and Mia Cooper from Ogilvie High School. They will be discussing the aftermath of the Great War and its impact on Tasmania, as well as some personal reflections by Griffin on his grandfather’s service. As usual, we will have afternoon tea after the talk to be followed by a quick AGM. We still have our Centenary badges for sale as well - $5. Hope to see you all there. 02.01.2022 FOSMA held a small display near the Bridge of Remembrance for Anzac Day. Wonderful to see so many people using the bridge to move between the Cenotaph and the Avenue. A bit windy but generally fine and mild. Thanks to all those who came for a chat or bought a commemorative Centenary badge.
