15.01.2022 LIDAR | Our eye in the sky, just got sharper! Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) is a sensor that uses eye-safe laser pulses that allow for highly accurate measurements to be made of any object or surface. It provides a highly detailed dataset which is displayed in 3D. Lidar does not require the same light conditions as other mapping cameras, meaning it can be used day and night, data can also be turned around in much shorter time frames, which is crucial during times of emergency. Our Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (Drones) are a core component in providing us intelligent and accurate information on landscapes and damaged buildings in emergencies, helping us and other emergency services to understand the topography and respond more effectively.
