17.01.2022 It was 19 years ago at 10:46pm (AEST) that we learnt of the horror that was unfolding on the other side of the world in New York City. 2977 people tragically lost their lives on this fateful day, 343 were firefighters, 23 were police officers, and 37 were port authority officers, all who responded to help those in need. Today we join our fellow first responders and members of the public across the world and pay our respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to those now battling illnesses due to the hazardous exposures. To this date an additional 227 firefighters have died of illnesses directly related to the exposures of that day. Our thoughts go out to all the families of those lost.

14.01.2022 Have you ever wanted to see exactly what it's like to fight a fire first hand? Well, thanks to Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone you can. Riverstone Fir...e Station were called to a kitchen fire on Wednesday, 9 September after a pot of oil caught alight. The kitchen was extensively damaged, however the owner's of the home escaped with only minor injuries. Check out the below video to see a kitchen fire through the eyes of a firefighter. Kitchen fires are the leading cause of house fires in NSW and a hot oil fire can engulf a room in a matter of minutes. Never attempt to put out an oil fire using water. Use a fire blanket only if it is safe to do so. Act quickly. Get out. Stay Out. Call Triple Zero (000) and wait for firefighters to attend. You can prevent a kitchen fire from happening by never leaving cooking unattended. #PreparedForAnything #MoreThanFire
