18.01.2022 23/5/20 - 0108hrs Motor Vehicle Accident At 1.08am this morning firefighters were responded to a single vehicle MVA. On arrival firefighters found a vehicle had left the road, crashed into a drain continuing to finish up back in the middle of the road. The vehicle was extensively damaged with the rear wheels and axle being ripped from the vehicle. Fortunately no one was injured in the accident. Firefighters closed the roadway and on removal of the vehicle, cleaned up a large amount of oil and fluids to avoid them contaminating the nearby environment. Also in attendance were NSW Police Force.

18.01.2022 Yesterday firefighters were responded to a machinery fire at Condong. On arrival firefighters found a front end loader on fire. Firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire and limited it's spread through the machine. A small amount of oil escaped the machine during firefighting operations. This was contained and cleaned up by the 391 crew.

17.01.2022 4/4/20 - 0554hrs - House Fire - Bray Park Early morning call to a house fire in Bray Park this morning. On arrival firefighters found a fire on the verandah of a house burning an external wall and breaking a window of the house. The occupants had awoken and extinguished the majority of the fire with a garden hose limiting the spread into the house prior to our arrival. Firefighters extinguished the remaining smouldering fire, used a positive ventilation fan to remove smoke fr...om the house and utilised a gas detector to ensure the atmosphere inside the house was safe for re-entry. One of the occupants suffered some smoke inhalation and firefighters administered oxygen to the person whilst an ambulance was called. Please ensure you have working smoke alarms installed in your house to allow early detection of fires. Murwillumbah Rural Fire Brigade also attended and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 468 Tweed Heads were en-route to assist but both were not required. NSW Ambulance also attended.

17.01.2022 "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." Lest we forget.

17.01.2022 Not just today but everyday.

17.01.2022 To commemorate Anzac Day this year due to the cancellation of official proceedings and with permission from the RSL sub branch, 391 Murwillumbah Station will be activating the stations Air Raid Siren at 0601hrs on Anzac Day and due to social distancing laws and in lieu of marching in the parade, firefighters are taking part in the driveway services that are occurring around the country.

16.01.2022 A timely reminder for solar system owners to ensure professional maintenance of their systems is kept up. Firefighters from 391 were responded to an electrical fire on the weekend. On arrival it was identified that a solar DC isolator had caught fire and was burning on the side of a house. Firefighters utilised a CO2 extinguisher to knock down the fire but due to the electrical current flowing to the isolator as the panels were still producing electricity the isolator continued to arc and smoulder. Fortunately Essential Energy were working a couple of streets away and were contacted to attend. Essential Energy workers managed to isolate the wires running from the panels to the isolator and the arcing stopped allowing full extinguishment. Thankfully the house was brick construction so the fire was confined to the point of origin. #FRNSW

09.01.2022 Tonight, change your clocks, check your smoke alarms! 2019 Winter fire data shows that almost 25% of smoke alarms did not operate in house fires. Fire moves fast, and working smoke alarms are one of the best early warning signs. Dont risk it, test it. Working smoke alarms help save lives.... #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

09.01.2022 OUCH....Are you one of the many Australians that loves to go for long drives with your feet on the dash?? Well this video is for you! Every year, passengers sustain unnecessary injuries from travelling like this. Their legs are forced back at awkward angles into their face and chest in a matter of milliseconds. Please, watch this video and remind your family and friends about the importance of keeping your feet off the dash.

08.01.2022 DON'T OVERLOAD POWERBOARDS | With more people working from home, avoid the risk of a fire and do not overload power boards. Ensure that your electrical leads are not damaged or faulty and if they are, do not use them! #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

07.01.2022 International Women’s Day 2021 It was a fitting celebration tonight that our very own female firefighter Harmony was presented her NSW Premiers Bushfire Emegency Citation by Superintendent Greg Lewis on International Women's Day, along with other firefighters from Murwillumbah station. Today we’re celebrating the achievements of women and calling to action gender parity.... Harmony and her fellow female firefighters are fine examples of how pivotal women are in this occupation. They demonstrate strength, courage and dedication to their communities. #choseToChallenge

07.01.2022 Absolutely devastating news coming from Victoria as we learn of 4 Victorian Police Officers have passed away after being struck by a motor vehicle whilst on duty. Our thoughts are with those lost, their family, friends & colleagues.

06.01.2022 This fire was caused when wood stored too close to a combustion heater ignited - keep a clear area at least one metre around any heater in your house. For more fire safety tips visit fire.nsw.gov.au/winter #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

05.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE There are a few changes that have taken place with the way FRNSW Murwillumbah Firefighters operate that you may notice. We hope you understand and can help us through the next few weeks.... Some of the changes include: We are cancelling all non essential community engagements so we won't be able to visit your school or childcare centre to pass on fire safety messages for a while. If you visit a fire station for any non life threatening issues we are not going to be able to let you in. You may notice fire trucks at emergencies with fire fighters sitting inside. We are minimising the amount of fire fighters contact with the community. If you see us sitting in our fire trucks and not getting out this is not us being rude. Feel free to give us a wave from a distance as we'll be more than happy to wave back. We won't be able to show your kids our fire truck and let them sit in it for a while. And unfortunatly we won't be able to shake you hands for a while. Behind the scenes we are doing a lot of hard work to continously decontaminate our trucks, uniforms and fire stations to ensure us and our community are protected. Thanks for the support we could not do this without everyones support.

05.01.2022 Extremely sad news of the passing of Senior Instructor Brian Aubusson. Such a great loss to us all. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and our colleagues that he trained and worked with. Rest In Peace "Aubo" He was a mentor to many and a great man.

04.01.2022 May the 4th is International Firefighters Day & also the feast day of St Florian, the Patron Saint of Firefighters. St Florian was the first known commander of one firefighting squad in the Roman Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which Firefighters all over the world share even today. Happy International Firefighters Day & to Firefighters everywhere stay safe!

02.01.2022 Solar panels are a very popular addition to homes, however fires involving solar panels have increased dramatically- almost 80% in the last five years. Solar pa...nels were found to be the cause of four fires in the last week alone and are up more than 20% from this time last year, with solar isolation switches causing almost half of all solar panel-related fires. NSW residents can play their part in ensuring solar panels are as safe as possible by making sure their solar panel system complies with Australian standards and using a qualified installer. It's always a good idea to do a license check with NSW Fair Trading before any work takes place. Remember, calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed. For more information on solar panel safety, visit the Fair Trading website here: https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//during-th/solar-panels

02.01.2022 Busy afternoon and morning for Murwillumbah firefighters with motor vehicle accidents and a house fire. At 1445 yesterday afternoon we were responded to a vehicle that had collided with a tree on Alma St. Firefighters contained a fluid leak into the drain and closed the West bound lane to allow the vehicle to be recovered. At 0110 this morning we were responded to a motor vehicle accident where a vehicle had left the road and rolled multiple times ending up in a paddock rippi...ng the front axle and wheels from the vehicle. On arrival Murwillumbah paramedics were attending to 3 patients from the vehicle. Firefighters assisted the paramedics until the arrival of 2 additional ambulances. Firefighters were on scene for approx 1.5 hours. At 0339 this morning firefighters were responded to a house fire in Murwillumbah. On arrival smoke was issuing from the bottom level of a 2 storey house. Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the lower level and found foodstuffs had caught alight on the stove causing extensive damage to the stove and wall behind. The power was isolated and the stove extinguished and smoke was removed from the house using our positive pressure ventilation fan. All persons were out of the house on arrival. Also in attendance to assist were Murwillumbah Rural Fire Brigade. With a bit of wet weather around please stay safe on the roads.
