23.01.2022 On Tuesday night our firies played ‘rescue’ Janga to practice their steady hands and ability to think outside of the square. Using a range of tools available the game went for almost an hour before a team was declared a winner. They were also tasked to move an egg from one cone to another 4 times without cracking it. Our rescue tools can provide up to 7.6 tonne of crushing force so being able to use the tool without crushing the egg proved a challenge. #preparedforanything

When the risk is lowered we will be keen as ever recommence them. #preparedforanything
18.01.2022 - WHAT ARE SOME OF THE TOOLS WE USE??? - Fire and Rescue NSW responds to a variety of rescue incidents daily that require the use of an array of tools. Our hydraulic rescue tools, specifically our spreader, is one that many indivduals associate with firefighters. You may more commonly hear them refered to as 'Jaws of Life'. For our safety we will be occupying one block at a time (about 10 minutes per block)so you may just have to pick a way around whilst we check them. Hydrant inspections is a crucial role we perform to ensure hydrants are well marked and accessible during an emergency. Mitchell St is a known hazard for us in regards to hydrants as they are often found to be covered in sand underneath the lid. #preparedforanything

11.01.2022 Here’s something for your Saturday! Here’s a collage of a few different jobs over the years big and small. Bottom Left: a motor vehicle accident on the notorious bend preceding the Stockton Bridge. Middle: The bush fire that is commonly known amongst the crew at 'The Great War of Stockton’. It earned it’s name as most of the time was spent scaling the sand dunes back and forth to access the fire fanned by a strong southerly change. Bottom middle: an all to common power pole fire cause by the sea mist and a light spray of rain resulting the the pole arcing and igniting. Bottom right: Second alarm structure fire on a ship loader cause by essential work that was being carried out at the time. #preparedforanything
