12.01.2022 A normal working day for an ATU instructor can have you operating any type of FRNSW appliance. Today it ranged from the ESA Tuktuk through to one of the new 24 metre CAF’s Aerial Pumpers (CAP’s).

09.01.2022 Last night officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command participated in the monthly Learner Night Drive program at Sydney Motorsport Park. The free eve...nt made possible by Driving Solutions and Australian Racing Drivers' Club gives learners the opportunity to drive around the track with their supervisors in a relaxed environment and build their driving confidence. As an additional exercise, officers setup a mock RBT site allowing the novice drivers the chance to experience driving through an RBT site and have a chat with officers. This particular night Fire and Rescue NSW attended and drove around the track with the drivers simulating emergency service vehicles conducting urgent duty, so they would have a better understanding of what to do in that situation. The event is FREE to any learner and is held the first Tuesday of every month.

04.01.2022 Another successful recruit class (1/2021) finished their advance drive course at the Armidale Training Centre.

02.01.2022 In the last 24 hours, 8.64 MILLION litres of flood water has been removed from the storm water drains of Kempsey and returned via 200 metres of 150mm hose to the Macleay River using the Fire and Rescue NSW Bulk Water Transfer System (Hytrans). The Hytrans has been moving roughly 6,000 litres of water a minute and is crewed by two on-call Hytrans Specialists from ATU. The local FRNSW crew, 345 Kempsey, have been fantastic as they assisted with the set up and the overnight monitoring of the appliance during this period. #preparedforanything
