04.01.2022 MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY! Last night local firefighters had a visit from Training Officer Richard and BAS-2 (Commonly known as the BA Semi) for Breathing Appartus (...BA) refresher training. In this body cam footage, Banora Point firefighters demonstrate a practical scenario where a firefighter is running low on air, and needs to share their partners air (Emergency Shared Air or ESA). We rely on Breathing Apppartus as a lifeline to protect our airways from: Unknown respiratory hazards Elevated temperatures Oxygen enriched and depleted atmopsheres Toxic atmospheres BAS-2 is Fire and Rescue NSW's portable training cell used to provide training and recirtification in using Breathing Apparatus. It features a fog machine to simulate smoke, a configurable layout of furniture, multiple compartments (or rooms), multiple rescue dummys, additional breathing appartus sets, spare cylinders & a cylinder refill station. It can also be responded to incidents as a support vehicle. A big thank-you to Richard from Fire and Rescue NSW BA Hazmat for an excellent drill and looking after our crew. Well done to Banora Point Firefighters for doing a great job as always. #FRNSW #PreparedForAnything #BanoraPoint #BAHAZMAT #BAS2
