25.01.2022 Unit fire Today Rhodes 066 was responded alongside firies from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 059 Eastwood to a report of a unit fire at Bay Drive Meadowbank. ...On arrival, smoke was issuing from the apartment complex and residents were slowly evacuating. 059 crew quickly gained access to the unit were they found unattended foodstuff burning and the apartment smoke logged. 059 crew extinguished the foodstuffs and began ventilating the apartment preventing major property damage. 066 crew assisted with the evacuation of residents and testing of air quality before giving the all clear for residents to safely return. Crews in attendance Eastwood 059 R059, Rhodes 066, Concord 016, Gladesville 023 and DC Parramatta As we head into winter its a great time to remember to Keep Looking when Cooking!

22.01.2022 Tomorrow (Friday January 10th) will see a Very High Fire Danger rating in the Greater Sydney Area and as such it will be a Total Fire Ban. A total fire ban means no fires out in the open. As a responsible adult:... - Yes you can still use an electric BBQ. - Yes you can still use a gas BBQ provided there isnt any combustible material within 2 metres and there is an immediate and continuous supply of water nearby. - No you cannot use a BBQ or wood fire pizza oven which uses solid fuel such as wood, charcoal or heat beads. The situ...ation is being closely monitored and further detailed warnings will be issued by the Bureau of Meteorology as necessary.******* Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning for LARGE HAILSTONES, HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS For people in parts of Sydney area. Issued at 12:39 pm Monday, 17 February 2020 The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:40 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Erskine Park, St Marys and Annangrove. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Hornsby, Dural and Horsley Park by 12:55 pm and Parramatta, Berowra and Terrey Hills by 1:10 pm. Large hailstones, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds are likely. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Dont walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. 17.01.2022 A confronting situation some of our firefighters experienced today. From our main Fire and Rescue NSW page: EASTWOOD | Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 059 Eastwood happened to be in the right place at the right time this afternoon. ... The team had been walking down Rowe St, Eastwood shortly after 12pm when they were confronted with an elderly driver who had crashed into a shop front and multiple cars. The quick thinking crew managed to usher bystanders into nearby shops out of the way of the oncoming car. Thankfully no one was injured but the driver of the car was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance. #FRNSW #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

Severe fire danger is forecast for four areas - North Coast, Greater Hunter, New England and Northern Slopes. In a Total Fire Ban no fire may be lit in the open. This includes incinerators and barbecues (BBQ) which burn solid fuel, e.g. wood, charcoal or heat beads. No general purpose welding, grinding, soldering or gas cutting can be performed in the open.
