16.01.2022 I'm sure that many residents of Moruya Heads will be concerned about the upcoming summer season, seeing as a lot of bushland still surrounds our community. We a...re grateful for NSW Fire and rescue for the good job they did on the reduction burns in the Anchorage and Hazel Road but we all know there is still a lot around us. After seeing that aerial photo of the airport with The heads in the background, I felt we needed some sort of protection that was locally based. So I have contacted numerous people, including politicians, our shire council and RFS to name a few. After being handballed from one person to another, I finally received some hope today! I received the following email from the Superintendent Garry Tye, zone commander for our region. I hope this helps to alleviate some stress that residents will be feeling. I believe we need to be proactive in protecting our properties and to have a unit close by will make a big difference. I will keep everyone updated as I receive more information. If anyone else wishes to contribute, feel free to contact NSW Fire and rescue. See more
