20.01.2022 OUR NATIVE WREATH I made this wreath quite early on, just for us. The tear drop shape was how the branches wanted to bend, and so I let them. It was in our room, and then at Christmas time I moved it to our front door. It’s remained there and it’s lovely coming home to it every night to greet us. ... So don’t think wreaths are just a seasonal decoration #driedflowers #nativeflowers #foamfree #sustainablefloristry #driedwreath #allyearwreath
13.01.2022 TO MARKET, TO MARKET The colors of the flowers in the market drew me in and tempted me with their deliciousness. I chose to buy the ones I could dry, or at least try to dry. Marigold, different colors of celosia- some with an amazing ombré look, 2 different colored banksias, some gorgeous thryptomene and some long branches of curly willow were my purchases. They are all now set up to dry in a few different ways and I’m looking forward to making with them all soon. #melbourneflowermarket #driedflowers #trialdryingflowers #coloroncolor #flowerheaven #sustainablefloristry
11.01.2022 THE MARKET AND THE HAUL This morning I went for a early morning discovery tour of the Melbourne flower market in Epping. These tours are run by the wonderful Jan at @cthemarket and give a little peep into the the world of florists, growers and suppliers along with all the stunning flowers and foliage they grow and sell. Both local and imported flowers can be found here and although they are not open to the public, if you attend the tour you are welcome to buy to your hearts c...ontent! I initially denied myself a trolley, but that soon changed. SWIPE to see my haul Now to dry them all (or at least try to- few experiments happening!) Stay tuned! #melbourneflowermarket #driedflowers #flowerheaven #firsttimemarketvisit #australianatives #freshflowers
10.01.2022 A CROWN FOR A HEN I made this crown for my hens party to match my festival themed outfit. I glued all different dried botanical bits and bobs to plastic from a milk bottle and created the curve to sit on my head using pipe cleaners. I loved it before I spray painted it, but as soon as it was sprayed it became even more- this bohemian silver adornment where every little texture just shine through. I have been wanting to post it for a while but as I want to be a totally bleach ...and dye free business, I thought that the spray painted flowers and grasses would give the wrong idea. But I listened to the The Flower Podcast last week and the guest Ingrid from Tin Can Studios told me about a spray paint that comes in many colors and is made from sugar. Better yet I found this product online in Aus! It’s certainly not something I will be using a lot, but sometimes, when the right project comes my way, I now know about a product that is better for the environment that regular spray paint and I don’t have to feel like a cheat #wherethere’sawillthere’saway #driedflowers #driedflowercrown #rubbishintoriches #flowercrown #sustaibablefloristry #henscrown
05.01.2022 TIME TO FLOWER Sometimes, out of nowhere, you have one of those days that aren’t planned and just seem to flow perfectly and allow you to be productive. Yesterday was one of those days for me and I finally got in the flower shed to work on a few projects. Most were gifts but this crown was just for fun. Usually I’m a matchy matchy person, but the opposing colors of orange/yellow against the purple just seemed to be too much fun not to make! Most of the flowers in this piece ...I grew in our garden so they belong together #driedflowers #driedflowercrown #grownnotflown #flowerfun #flowertime #nativedriedflowers
01.01.2022 DRYING NOT DYING Here are some of the flowers I have dried from the workshop Mum and I did at @gatherflowerfarm with @thegracefulbloom They did really well and I can’t wait to use them!
