22.01.2022 This year the AIPP State and National Awards were cancelled due to the dreaded Rona so our wonderful awards team put together an alternate online comp. I wasn't actually going to enter as there wasn't an animal specific category which meant I would have to go up against the big guns in the portrait category. But in the end I talked myself into it and thought I would see how it goes but wasn't expecting much. A couple of days before the deadline I came up with a new one for U...ncanny Annie and her new dog grooming business Uncanny Animals, so I popped it in the Goods and Services category which is a commercial category. I definitely wasn't expecting much in this category filled with wonderfully accomplished commercial photographers! Well this morning I was pleasantly surprised to see that I am a semi finalist in both the portrait and the goods and services category! This means that I am in the top 25 of each category. With almost 3000 entries this is quite the honour and to say I am stoked is an understatement. It's rare for animal images to do well up against people portraits. On Friday there will be another announcement of the top 5 finalists in each category. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Congratualtions to all the semi finalists. 22.01.2022 Meet Missy & Honour! Missy is eleven years young and had a bit of a ruff year last year. She had an ACL done, teeth broken and removed, and one eye out! You wouldn't know it though as she bounced around the studio showing us her best poses. She loves swimming and retrieving at the beach, but is not as keen on land. She's can be quite cuddly and she's friendly with everyone and social with dogs but is happy just napping close to her people.... Honour has just turned one year old and has just started her training as a seeing eye dog. She has spent the last year in foster care learning her manners and basic training so that she can one day help support someone with vision impairment. I think you'll agree that they are both stunning and are going to look incredible as art on their Mum's wall. 22.01.2022 So it seems I have some BIG NEWS that I failed to tell you all about! It has been flat out here since lockdown ended and I am trying to fit everyone in before Christmas and it completely slipped my mind! So in November I was contacted by a company in Paris who in 2016 installed the largest digital facade in Europe in order to showcase and promote artists. That wonderful company is called Veepee (previously Vente-Privee). Anyway the lovely Marie from Veepee contacted me after ...seeing my 'Dogs Are The Best People' series that went a little viral about a year ago. They loved the work so much they were wanting to showcase the images on the side of their building! To say I was a bit skeptical at first is a bit of an understatement. When you get contacted in the art world generally it means they want to showcase your work but it will cost you. And after this crazy covid year spending money on any kind of art installation was out of the question. But after doing a little bit of research and finding out that not only did they not want payment for this but it seems I am in good company! There have been quite a few well known artists featured on the display so I am a bit chuffed to be included! So a few weeks ago I signed the contract and sent them my work and with all the craziness around here I forgot that it actually started displaying on the 1st December! It will be showing on a rotating basis with work from other artists until the end of Feb 2021. They estimate approximately 235,000 cars drive past this display every day. How exciting is that! I wish I could go and see it in person but unfortunately stopped Covid has put the kibosh on that for now. If any of you are in Paris and happen to see it, ket me know! xx

This is Marley. She got her name because of my love for Bob Marley. She is the most chilled out kitty ever and has been my partner in crime since 2008. True fact - Marley and I survived a house fire once. She was way more chill about it than me. Marley is a bit of a slutty pants when it comes to getting the cuddles. Her favourite food is McDonald's chips and she will take you down if you don't share. She never seems to age. Unlike me.

20.01.2022 So that’s a wrap on the AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards 2019 and the results are in! Last night I was awarded the 2019 AIPP AUSTRALIAN PET/ANIMAL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR Oh my dog, what a ride this past 12 months has been. And now this! What a way to top off an incredible year. ... It was fantastic to spend the past week celebrating the photography industry and catching up with old and new friends. I am obviously stoked with my results and so happy to see many of my friends achieve their goals. A huge congrats to Matt Palmer for taking out the Australian Professional Photographer of the Year and to all the other category winners. It was a very humbling and surreal moment for me to be sharing the stage with such incredibly accomplished photographers. I have popped a link in the comments if anyone wants to have a look at all the winning images. My winning portfolio was also enough for me to collect enough merit points that I was awarded my associates ribbon in my first year which I am so excited for! It’s kind of hard to believe it has only been a year since I was writing a similar post after being awarded the 2018 AIPP Emerging Photographer of the Year. So much has happened and I have achieved so much. I am feeling so many emotions today I’ve actually had a hard time finding the words but if I had to pinpoint the strongest emotion it would be gratitude. I am so grateful that I get to live my dream with my husband and fur kids by my side and that I have the Frog Dog community I can share this success with. 08.01.2022 As you are all probably well aware by now that Melbourne is the naughty child of the family and must be placed into time out for a further 6 weeks. Sadly this means that Frog Dog will have too close again while we learn our lesson. Those with appointments booked in should have received an email from me today with instructions on how to rebook once we learn how to behave ourselves. At this stage we will reopen on the 28t August. 08.01.2022 Righto peoples and pooches, It looks like Frog Dog won't be back this month as initially hoped and it might even be November before we can safely operate. Which is a total bummer, I miss you all so much and the fun we have together in my studio. However, right now we are happy to do our part to help kick this virus in the proverbial pants once and for all. Watching people lose loved ones and not be able to be with them right now is awful and we are glad we can do our part by... making sacrifices in our lifestyle. I know the sacrifices people have had to make are different in significance for everyone and I just want to encourage you all to look outside your own walls and consider how your actions may effect others. Approach everyday with compassion and kindness in your heart, you never know what impact this may have on someone else's wellbeing. In other words 'BE MORE DOG'! 08.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! So yesterday was a bit of an ordeal. I woke up to find my little Smooshie dog had an ulcer on her eye and a perforated cornea. Poor little poppet was in so much pain she wouldn't even eat her breakfast. So after much panicking I whisked her off to the amazing Dr Marnie at Animal Eye Care. She went straight into surgery to have a conjunctival pedicle graft. We are not sure how much sight she will have in that eye once it heals but at least she hasn't lo...st it completely. Which is lucky because for those of you who have been following along for the last 4 years you might remember her having an ulcer operated on when we first opened Frog Dog. So now she has 2 bung eyes. Keep your fingers crossed her vision comes good in this one because her left eye is not much use at all. She is now resting peacefully in her cone of shame that she is stuck with for the next 10 days. Anyone else got a pooch who is prone to injury?

02.01.2022 Professional Photographers of America has announced the Grand Imaging Award finalists for 2021! AND YOUR GIRL IS ONE OF THEM! For the second year in a row! I know, I should be more humble but screw that! I made it into the top 10!... There were 5000 images submitted into this photography competition from all over the world. 1706 of the 5000 images submitted were selected for the General Collection and 865 were selected for the esteemed loan collection. Out of the 5000 images 120 images were selected to be nominated for Grand Imaging Awards. The top 10 images in each category. In January at Imaging USA 2021, the top three photographers in each category will be awarded, with one of the 12 first-place images taking the overall Grand Imaging Award. The International Photographic Competition is quite a process and to get this far is amazing. I am so excited to share these results with you. It is also wonderful to see so many of my friends receive a nomination as well and in some cases more than one! CONGRATULATIONS TO Lisa Verdoes Asp, Danica Barreau, Beth Brinston, Travis Patenaude, Annie Ballantine, Susan Gertz, Diana Lundin - Los Angeles Pet Photography, Kathy Wierda, Studio of Photography and Marianne Cherry - Portrait Artist. 02.01.2022 One year ago today...... Tony and I have had a lovely 'staycation' celebrating our anniversary. Although we originally had a lovely trip planned which obviously the covid put an end too, we decided to make the most of it and ordered some lovely food from Platter Pantry and spend the time relaxing and getting fat. It's been a wonderful first year of marriage and there is no one I'd rather be locked down with!
