25.01.2022 Its not long until Easter and this month our box has included lots of activities to prepare for the ultimate egg hunt. Even if you didnt order a Cottontails box you can still participate! Our first activity is making a basket. All you need is a balloon, some paper and some form of glue (we simply mixed flour and water until we got the right consistency). Paste the paper on to the balloon in a basket shape. Best to do at least 3 layers giving each layer time to dry. Hang t...he balloon in the sun to dry. For the creative ones cut your paper in strips and create a weave pattern on your top layer. Once set, pop the balloon and leave your basket as is or decorate with paints, ribbons or flowers! Use as a centerpiece, save for the egg hunt or fill with eggs or flowers as a personalized gift! Dont forget to upload a photo of your Easter inspired art to Theweekender.travel for you chance to win a sold out Cottontails box!
24.01.2022 This summer I learnt that times have changed. The summer backyard box was designed for children to return to simpler times of running through sprinklers, playing on the beach and eating home-made ice blocks. Instead many children around Australia watched sprinklers on their roofs trying to protect their house and spent days or weeks without power or access to their own fridge. As a child I never wrote a letter to an RFS volunteer (or knew they even existed), I never put out ...water for thirsty wildlife or sewed a pouch. My children have. 19.01.2022 How many times a day do you tell your kids to be careful? When they run towards the road? When they go to take a bite of a hot meal? When they walk around with their shoe laces undone?
19.01.2022 Our January winner goes to Mr. 6 of the NSW far South Coast. This summer he was evacuated three times due to the approaching bushfires. Despite his anxiety he was a constant support and comfort to his little sister and a most deserving winner of a From: Aunt Matilda box!
18.01.2022 Send the kids outside to gather ingredients, spend some time inside making bath bombs and then watch them enjoy their home-made spa experience!
17.01.2022 Watching Australia burn has had such a profound impact on me this summer that it is difficult to express the feeling of despair and put it into words. Trying to find positives among the ongoing tragedy has not been easy and has certainly resulted in much reflection and a re-evaluation of whats important. So, with that in mind, I decided I needed to make some New Years resolutions. So in 2020:... - I will source products from the bush and from bushfire affected communities as much as possible - Give away one box a month to a little hero - Increase our focus on environmental awareness in the next generation because a small act can create a ripple! More details of this coming soon but in the meantime should you too wish to support these communities then follow these great campaigns - Buy From the Bush @buyfromthebush and Spend with Them @spendwiththem

12.01.2022 Easter activity number two. Card making. At a time when we are isolated this is a nice way to stay connected with loved ones from afar, show some appreciation to our essential workers or offer assistance to an elderly neighbour. Best part - all you need is paper and a bit of creativity. The gorgeous wooden paw stencil came in our cottontails box as did some cottontails for inspiration!

01.01.2022 https://contest.app.do/pg/2020-monthly-giveaway I am so excited to announce that I will be giving away a ReWILD your CHILD box each month for the rest of the year to a favourite niece or nephew. Aunt Matilda is old-fashioned and thus this is not a competition for the over-achievers but rather nominations are open to all children whose parents, carers or loved ones think displayed particularly good manners that month and showed a lack of self-entitlement. Share with those that you think have deserving little people!
