14.01.2022 Take a leap of faith Sometimes You Have to Jump to Find your Real Calling Missional practice requires courage to think outside the box and move where the Spirit is at work in the world. Yet somehow we have got locked into a situation where we think only the organisational entity of the church can bless such missional creativity. If this was the case then Paul and Barnabas would never have ventured into the Gentile world. If we wait on the "denominational hierarchy" to deliv...er innovative and transformative change that empowers mission, sadly we will be waiting a long time. FRONTIER thinks outside the box. It doesn't matter who you are, if you feel God is calling you to ministry, and you have a heart to reach the 90% of Australians who are unchurched or dechurched, then FRONTIER is the space for you. The units delivered in partnership with Melbourne School of Theology, are all geared to empower you to test your calling, explore in practice how it might look, and release you to do ministry from a missional perspective. As a nationally recognized and fully accredited program, offering a Diploma in Ministry or a Graduate Diploma of Divinity, FRONTIER provides a pathway into further study. For those within the Lutheran Church of Australia, the units count as credits towards study at Australian Lutheran College. For those who simply want to do missional ministry without pursuing a more formal pathway, FRONTIER provides enough foundational training to release you into missional leadership or church planting wherever you feel God is calling you. Sometimes you have to look outside the norm, the traditional pathways, the neat "safe" security of what the organisational church advocates to discover God's calling for you in the world in which you live. 07.01.2022 Recently I read series of articles in the Lutheran, the national magazine for the Lutheran Church of Australia, where young people were expressing their sense of frustration at not having a place within the local church community. They were leaving the LCA for other church experiences because they were finding the sense of belonging to a community that cared for them. It got me thinking - why do we relegate our young people to programs where all they can do is run a youth gr...oup, or a children's ministry? It's as if we're saying to them sure you have a place, as long as you play games with our kids, but leave "real church" up to the adults. What a sad indictment on the church. Both Bill Hybels (Willow Creek) and Rick Warren (Saddleback) were in their mid twenties when they started their respective churches. Today these churches are among the largest in the western world. What if we had a program that stopped playing church, and began empowering real communities built by the very people who yearn for community? What if we had a program that enabled young people to plant churches that relate to them, their peers, and the things they see as important? FRONTIER is just that. We're not interested in teaching people how to run a youth program. We want to enable, empower and release a generation of people with the skills and passion to plant churches. Not everyone is cut out to be a missional leader. Not everyone is cut out to plant churches. But in partnership with others, forming a team of people with the same intent, God can do amazing things. Hybels and Warren both started out with a small group of people. Mike Breen, a UK church planter, started out with half a dozen, and has gone on to plant many communities. Church planting is about team work, and FRONTIER will help define that for you.
