19.01.2022 ARTIST'S WORK CONTRIBUTES to GC2018 OPENING CEREMONY! If you watched the #GC2018 Opening Ceremony on Wednesday night you have already seen the work of Darryl Ferguson of WALAAYBAA TIMBER. Darryl created the Coolimon (pictured) used for the smoking ceremony. Of his work Darryl says: Yarmaa. My name is Darryl Ferguson. I come from Collarenebri and now live in Lightning Ridge in North West New South Wales. I am a Gamilaroi Man. I always had a love for timber and the trees ar...e a big part of my Culture. The timbers I use are some of the hardest in the world. I make freeform bowls, traditional weapons and tools and Didgeridoos. As each piece is made it tells it’s own story - no two pieces are the same. WALAAYBAA means HOME COUNTRY in my language. The tribe I come from carved on the trees to tell our dreaming and initiation stories so carving is in my DNA. 13.01.2022 As Sunday 15th April 2018 comes to a close. The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games celebrates with a closing Ceremony. Today the space that was so graciously donated to our event Ngullingi Ya Wahlu has been transformed back to Welcome the FSG Staff back for Monday morning. Thank you everyone who gave their time, ideas, love and support to the unknown. Regardless of the low visitor numbers over the past two weeks, everyone should be proud of what we have achieved. To the army of volunteers THANK YOU.

As a soulful, passionate, poetic, and socially reflective rapper, Sachem aka Denver can hit your heart with some deep spoken word, black Shakespearean style poetry or switch up the flow and get the party started with his high energy rhymes that are laced over classic Hip Hop beats! In the process of turning his personal "pain into c...hampagne," Denver has done all he could do to not only face his demons, just scraping through high school, but with his lion heart & philosophical mind, in the process he managed to shine, co-winning the prestigious, Queensland Poetry Festival Oodgeroo Noonccal award. This nationally recognised award was true respect for this teenagers incredible talent, passion for his art, and dedication to his craft.
